CGFNS exam, anything new, is the study guide enough?

Hi,
After 9 months of fighting with the bureaucracy of the CGFNS, I finally got rostered for November. I received the study guide and purchased the CGFNS supplement booklets (psychiatry, child care, adult health, etc.).

The same subjects come up over and again on the study guides. So I was wondering if these are the only subjects tested on the actual exam or if there are a lot of questions on other subject matter that is not covered in the study guide and booklets. Will I be ok if I study only the subjects covered in the CGFNS guide?

Also, I was wondering if the CGFNS exam includes questions with multiple correct answers?

And finally, are there any questions with a different format than on the study guide?

thks for your help.

The study guide definitely is not enough, although some questions on the book are given on the actual exam. You still need to familiarize your self with all the nursing concepts.Study those topics you feel you lack knowledge.

The exam is not purely multiple type question,it also includes diagrams that you need to identify what is being asked for,and yes(a) or no(b) questions.

Goodluck.

Probably too late now, but it's probably silly to do the CGFNS exam. I understand you want to work in PA? That's where I work. I got licensed in VT then endorsed over to PA - much easier than paying for and taking another exam apart from NCLEX. Good luck.

How long did it take you to get endorsed? Did you need to provide a physical address in VT when you applied for the NCLEX?

The endorsement was quite fast, a couple of weeks maybe. I was in Australia when I got my VT license, definitely didn't give a US address when I applied for VT licensure. Then took the exam in Sydney after I registered at the Pearson Vue website.
