Canadian RPN for American Graduate Nursing?

I am almost finished the Registered Practical Nursing program here in Ontario and I was wondering how exactly to go about working in the United States (Orlando). I do not want to waste time between graduation and working but I have had the run around and so many different answers.

The recruitment agencies state that it IS possible to work in the U.S. as an RPN, however, I am still a little lost on how to apply/what to apply for, which visa, and immigration processes in general.

Has anyone experienced this personally? Should I get in touch with Immigration in the U.S.?

You would have to apply for a nursing license in the state you wanted to work in.If you meet their requirements they will give you permission to write the NCLEX-PN.If you pass that you will have a license.

I am not familiar with the process but I think you can apply for a TN Visa. Are you aware of the poor job outlook for new grads in the US?

LPN is not a visa eligible profession. For a TN visa you must be a registered nurse in your home country. Last I checked with USCIS, urrently there are no work visas available for LPN's in the US.

My mistake. You are right.RN is needed for the TN visa.

IT IS A HUGE issue... and many sites addressing this, some "heated" at times.... , just being an RPN, will NOT get you into U.S. to work......

what "recruitment agencies are saying that it is possible" ? I HAVE WORKED ON THIS FOR YEARS.... AND DON'T KNOW OF ONE ???
