Can a nurse educate outside of the us be an LVN?

Hello again!
I posted another thread few day ago telling you how difficult it is to get into the psychiatric nursing classes. A nursing instructor game me some advice. She basiclly told me that I could be an LVN (if I pass the Board exam of corse) while I am waiting to get into the psychiatric nursing classes which could take up to a year. Does anybody know anything about this? Has anybody heard something similar before? Can a RN educated outside the US be a LVN here in the US?

Possibly, but you can't get a work visa as an LVN. Only the RN from Canada or Mexico qualifies for a TN Visa (non immigrant) otherwise the only way to work in the US is through a green card and that is a long process right now. And that also requires a person to be an RN.

The problems as I mentioned to you already, is that if you are missing required hours for the RN license, then chances are that the same area would be considered missing for the LVN license as well.

You need hours in mental health and these are needed for licensure here for both areas.
