California issues regarding Concurrent Theory and Clinical practice

Hi everyone! I'm hoping you can give me ideas on this matter. I'm a foreign graduate of Nursing program, I have SSN. I am an NCLEX passer and practiced as an RN in Connecticut. I moved to California with my family recently and tried to endorse my license by reciprocity. Unfortunately, i was told that I have deficiency with my Med surg and OB regarding concurrent theory and clinical practice.

They told me to take the course and clinical practice here in CA. But that will be time and cost consuming.

My question is have anyone experienced this situation? What did you do? Can I contest to CABON? Can I take LVN exam while waiting to get approved?

i will appreciate any ideas or info you can give me. Thank you.

You can do both. Apply for NCLEX-PN through BVNPT while contacting schools to accept you. If you're in Northern California, try contacting Dominican University of California for your deficient courses. E-mail them at [email protected]. You can also visit the school's website, look for the nursing program, and find the IEN (internationally educated nurses) section for the instructions. There are a few requirements before they put you on the list especially making a Castle Branch account and fulfill the IEN's requirements. You might be able to get in this Summer 2018 or Fall 2018 especially because you already have your RN license outside California. You will automatically be in MS 3. Unlike others who only have LVN licenses here in California, they have to be in MS 2 and then either challenge a test to bypass MS 3 or take MS 3 if not able to bypass it. Good luck!
