:yeah:Philippine Heart Center gives a one-day Basic Life Support training for lay people. Philippine Red Cross gives a 5-day training and covers a lot of other areas like rescue and handling. They are both effective and the difference is Philippine Heart Center's lecturers are doctors in specialized fields and focuses more intently on cardiovascular rescue. Philippine National Red Cross is for everyone especially lay people, you can learn how to tie a splint, how to properly carry the wounded, what to do in case of fire, how to dress a burnt wound. That is the reason why PNR has this training for 5 days, while Philippine Heart Center gives one-day training for Basic Life Support. There are more focused trainings that the PHC gives in different areas so the best way is to visit their website and inquire because their courses are specified on what kind of background and skills you already have and the level of education and expertise you are in so that PHC can give you the best training possible in those areas where you would benefit most. They also give trainings to course providers and experts already in the field, just to let you know there are different levels of training given to healthcare providers. ;)

Both institutions provide quality training for us nurses. But i would say that the BLS training at the PHC is more focused on persons who are in the healthcare field. Their training manuals are reviewed regularly to keep the trainees updated as per American Heart Association protocols.
