Badly Need Advice in taking NCLEX...

Hello fellow Nurses! I just passed the Local Board in the Philippines and is now planning to take the NCLEX before working. I was wondering if anyone can give me advice as to which state in the US I should go to. I have relatives in NY, NJ, Texas, and CA. I don't want to take the CGFNS anymore. According to some of my friends, the ATT from these states take too long to arrive. Some adviced to just take the New Mexico or Vermont NCLEX wherein the ATT will arrive within 2-3 months. They said it is also the easiest exams to pass while the hardest are nclex of NY and CA... (i don't know if this is true.) Then I'll just apply for a reciprocity to NY or CA or anywhere I wanted to go to. I want to know if reciprocity applies to New York and New Mexico/Vermont.

Hoping somebody could answer my questions... thanks in advance!

exams are the same in all the states.. nclex has a test bank and there are group of persons who wrote the exam.. it's not true that test in one state is easier/ harder than the other.. it's just the same. they just differ on the requirementsand processing of the state for licensure..

If you want to work in NY. It's more advisable to apply directly to NY. NY needs the CVS from CGFNS 1st before NYSED can make you eligible.

You will be wasting more time and money if you go thru 1 state 1st then endorse to NY because all foreign RNs will have to go thru the CVS 1st regardless if you have passed the NCLEX in 1 state already or got a license already in 1 state or not. Hope this is clear.

If CA, you may go thru Vermont or New Mexico or whatever State BOn that are fast and will give you a license w/o a US SSN requirement 1st then endorse to CA because CA Board of registered Nursing does their own evaluation.

Goodluck.

Thread moved to International Forum as it has to do with working in the US, and is not specific to Filipino issues.

Please read the Primer at the top of this International Forum for explanantions for much of what you need to know.

You pick a state based on where you wish to work, start from there. Not where the exam is supposedly the easiest. It is the same exam no matter where you take it or for which state.

I'm confused!!!! Isn't it that if you already passed in NCLEX, you can work in any states of US? Or do we really have to take NCLEX in the state that we want to work in the future?

NCLEX is just an exam that is recognized in 50 states adn territories. You have to apply to the Board of Nursing in the state where you want to work. This particular State Board of Nursing will send you the permission to take the NCLEX, BUT you can take the NCLEX anywhere (even HOng Kong, Taiwan, Saipan) so you dont have to fly to that state to take the exam.
Passing the NCLEX will not give you right to work anywhere only on the State where you applied AND where you have an employer who sponsored your green card.
