As a Travel Nurse can you go to other countries?

Like work in Australia, France, Belgium, Canada, Germany, ect.?

Or can you only work in the states? :cool:

You need to contact the accreditating body for nursing in the country you visit. You need to be prepared for the idea that nursing in other countries is very different than nursing here in the states. The medications you utilize will be different, standards of care may be different, scope of practice may be different. Go into it with your eyes open. I'd recommend talking to someone who's traveled to the country you wish to visit.

You would have to apply for licensure, they would need all your educational transcipts, then they assess those, then you have to write the exam for that country if they decide you are eligible.Many countries would need you to pass a language proficiency exam if their official language is not English.It takes much time and money to obtain a license in another country.You would also have to deal with the work visa issue. You would likely need your BSN to qualify many places.

You could work as a contractor on a US Military installation using your home state RN licensure.

Unless working on a US base and meeting the country's nursing requirements you also need to be aware that you will have to meet immigration requirements or work permit requirements allowing you to live and work in that country.

As mentioned in previous posts you will need to meet country requirements for nursing but also meet language requirements and some countries like the UK now require you to pass a English exam even if English is your first language
