This is "Adjustment in Status" --- this is whay will be filed on your behalf once you get a job offer. You need to have this done once you get a job so that you can work. It will take about 60 to 90 days after the filing for you to get another letter called and EAD which gives you the permission to work.

This is only done if the nurse is already in the US and has a visa that legally permits them to be here.

Thank you su much, I read it and discovered that I had heard about the adjustment before. I was not aware of the fact that this is the AOS! But I am still waiting for CVS N.Y. --so no reason for me to be excited about any AOS right now ( unfortunately).

I know..i was in the same boat before. NY - CVS is another bottleneck because of CGFNS.
I do not know whether you already passed CGFNS or not. If not, dont bother about CGFNS exam. Apply NCLEX directly. You can endorse it to most of the other states later, if needed. I endorsed it to texas..

Hi,
Suzanne really gave me the best advice ever: So I applied for N.Y. license and now I am waiting for the credit evaluation to get ready . But it is still "ready for review" so some more weeks to wait.
And the other thing is "visa screen". The will share the documents with CVS N.Y. but CVS waived some requirements which means that I have to chase documents . I should be lucky because I passed all English exams, but I feel tired of sitting at home as a "stay at home mum". I really love to be a nurse and miss my job. My husband got H1B so I had no choice but to take this H4 .

Half of the problems will be solved, if USCIS/NCSBN/BON-NY appoints someone else other than CGFNS also for the Visa screen/CES/CVS. Current monopoly of CGFNS should be ended to help nurses to get their immigration related work done in a fast and efficient manner.

This 'ready for review' will be there for 6 weeks. Cant help it. I used CGFNS 'ready for review' time as my 'study for NCLEX' time using the Kaplan onine.

Since you are in East coast, thing should be pretty OK for you. You have all those beautiful places out there to enjoy, Niagra/NY/PA to name alteast a few all in drivable distances..

What requirements or documents are you having to chase down? Normally whatever CGFNS accpets or uses for the CVS, these can be used directly for the Visa Screen Certificate. I am interested in knowing whatelse that they are telling you to get...........
