Thank you for that info! That enlightened me a bit. So that means I might go through SEC in BC. Do you have a clue as to why they required you to take SEC? Is it lack of experience or a different nursing curriculum in school?

only bc can decide whether one will have sec assessment. even experienced and nurse from philippines, UK, australia, new zealand etc. have to undergo sec assessment based on bc assessment.

applying in canada, you need IELTS with band score of 6.5 and 7 in speaking. Incomplete application will not be process.

For a H1b you need to be specialised and as the member has already mentioned they have no nursing experience therefore can not be specialised.

I already passed IELTS last July 2008. Do you know if SRNA also requires our IELTS scores to be not more than 1 year old at the time of registration? I know for a fact that CRNBC implements this policy. I wonder if SRNA has a similar rule.

Check their website as it should state on there what their English requirements are

I checked their website and it says English test scores are valid for two years. Good news for me because I have more time to get my hospital experience.

I already started my application just this month to saskatchewan. I am just waiting for SRNA to email me. Actually, BC just implemented the SEC assessment last December 2008. And try applying at SRNA as soon as possible before they will implement the SEC assessment.

I don't know what are the criterias for a foreign nurse be evaluated to the SEC. In my situation, i am a critical care nurse that's why they will evaluate in areas in which i have no knowldge of... these are OB, pediatrics, and psyche.

You have a piont babyjr. But is work experience a requirement for SRNA? I noticed in their forms there is a section about RN Employment History. But there is no column for the present year 2009. I had my volunteer work starting December 2008 until present. Should I leave it blank?

volunteer work is not considered work experience. work experience counts when the nurse is paid by the hospital doing the nurse work.

So is it still possible to register with SRNA without experience?

You don't need experience to register, you need experience to find an employer. 2 different things
