American Nurses In Italy

Hi, I am currently a Nursing Student in Florida, ADN, and will be graduating next May. My husband is military and has orders for Verona, Italy. We leave next August. Does anyone have any information/advice on Nursing employment in Italy? How hard is it to get a job, and is an associate degree RN recognized?
Thanks,
Elaine

Good luck Elaine!
Hope you have a good time there, Italy! Music to my ears!!! The country to see! WOW!
Well, I have no idea how it works over there, unfortunately I am no use for you but... if I was you I would check out travel agencies for nurses that hire for overseas. I would learn the language STAT. At least the basics and medical terminology.
I would also try to work in a nursing home to begin with, that's how I learn English! Trust me, I didn't even know how to call a "brief"!!! And... it is a good place, due to the pace, to get familiar with a new culture.
Let us know how you managed!
Ciao!

Default Re: American Nurses In Italy
Your only option will be US Military facilities. Otherwise, you will need to take the Italian nursing boards in Italian, etc. That would be your safest bet. Remember that you need to go thru th testing again, as your US license is not recognized by the Italian BON, you need their exam.

Hope that this helps. Definitely try to contact some of the bases in the area.
