Prepping skin for an infant (less than 2 months) IV

  1. 0
For those of you who start baby IVs! Our Children's Hospital's policy is to clean the skin with an alcohol to prep the skin for an IV start. We only use Betadine and alcohol if drawing blood cultures. I'm having a difficult time finding research on what is best practice. I would like to know what other pediatric hospitals do. Any input you have would be much appreciated! Thank you!!
