Looking for US Guided Perpherial IV insertion policies and Nurse competencies.

by danfif Platinum Member

I am piloting a program at our facility to train nursing staff in the ED to insert Ultrasound guided peripheral IV's and am in need of copies of policies and nurse competencies, or ideas from other facilities on how they are set up for this type of procedure.. Any help would be appreciated.
Dan

Please send me a pm and I can help you with this.....all of our IV team does this.....its a little harder than it looks though and you have to put certain safequards into place. I did write the steps and protocol into our new peripheral protocol and can tell you what you need to do from our experiences and my recent search of the literature

Our nurses trained to do this about 2yrs ago. It has made much progress since. This skill will be very helpful to your ED.
