Ratio 6-1 for new nurse grad on ID floor?

by knewb

Hi,

Does anyone have any insights as to the possibility of a new nurse graduate being able to handle 6 patients on an infectious/communicable disease floor. (after orientation, of course) There will be 1-2 airborne precautions, and the rest contact precautions. It's a night shift, and there is one patient care tech for 12 patients. Oh- and paper charting is included in the package. It sounds daunting to me, but I am a new grad, so what do I know? LOL Any opinions will be appreciated!!!
