Parents in a pediatric patient isolation room

What is your policy regarding the dressing requirments for the parents of pediatric patients in isolation? Do you require that the parents wear masks all day long when staying in the room with their children? The N95 masks now required for r/o H1N1 are unbearable if worn for an entire day, and we are wondering how others are dealing with this. Thanks!

Default Re: Parents in a pediatric patient isolation room
Our policy is that visitors do not need to wear any isolation garb if they are not going into more than 1 patients room. We do tell visitors that if they don't wear a mask they are at risk for catching the illness. Some figure they've already been exposed at home, which is largely correct. Some choose to wear masks, others don't.
