NEUTROPENIC PRECAUTIONS and H2O

When I worked organ transplant, only bottled water never any ice as the ice machines we assumed to be contaminated.

We've had a rash of neutropenic cancer patients and our policy does not call for bottled water, no ice.

Can anyone give me some feedback or point me to some great sites for standards of care/ evidenced based nursing with this?

thank you
