KPC cases in Illinois

KPC has been found in a LTC facility in Elmwood Park, Illinois. Yep, I work there. I understand that KPC has mostly been found in facilities in New York and Puerto Rico. How worried should I be about this? Obviously it's been spread from patient to patient. By staff? Anyone with information about this, please respond.

What's KPC? I get the impression it's an antibiotic-resistant organism.

This is a good resource to attain information about the situation where you work. You need to report the outbreak to the CDC at address provided in the above website. Do it ASAP! The referral can be anonymous.
