How Did You Get Your Start?

by PhilSN

I'm starting nursing school, and I was reading a few things about infectious disease nursing, and I was wondering how one gets into it. The forum here says that infectious disease nurses are clinical nurse specialists, but the only graduate program in infectious disease nursing I found was from the University of Washington, and it was an NP program, not a CNS program. Do you get MPHs or is it mostly on the job training?

Actually, here in the Philippines, there is a certification before you can be considered a full-pledge Infection Control Nurse, you have to attend a 1-week seminar on Basic Infection Control under the Philippine Hospital Infection Control Nurses Association (PHICNA) and more trainings (OJT) there is also a one month training offered.
