Cleaning pillows(Vinyl or latex)

by sharann

Hi,
Just wondering how a hospital should be dealing with [illow disinfection between patients. As pillows are a rare commodity in hospitals(they keep disappearing) many units have began to hoarde them and hide them. Is spraying them and letting them air dry ok? Is bleach needed or recomended even. I am just concerned that some pillows are used then reused with only the pillow cover being changed. This is gross and obviously can transmit bugs around. Any studies or practical info on this subject. My intenet searches yield bubkis~
Thanks
