Breaking into Infection Control Nursing

  1. I've been a nurse in a Pediatric care unit for 13 years - and am working on my Master's in Nursing Education. However, I have always had an interest in Infection Control and Epidemiology, and worked as the Chair of the unit IC committee for 2 years, and a member for several more. I have noticed that many positions require CIC certification, which I am not qualified as far as experience to sit, based on the eligibility requirements. What I was wondering was, how did YOU get into the field of IC? I don't know if there are post grad certifications available in this topic, but the thought of more student loans make me cringe! Any thoughts or ideas are welcome!

    Thanks!

EDIT: I have been pouring through jobs on Indeed.com related to Infection Control, and want some advice before applying to any of them.
