Testing Out pre-requisites

If you want to CLEP out of a class and don't want to use TCN, do a search on the word CLEP. That should bring you to companies who provide info to CLEP out of classes at a fraction of the cost of TCN. If you need to take a class, I heard that ISU takes transcripts from Ivy Tech in Indiana. I here it is not only a regular accredited community college, but also offers accredited distant learning classes.

Most community colleges have testing centers. I live in Columbus, and Columbus State Community College (CSCC) is equipped to handle almost anything. I doubt you'll be able to do any of the exams online though - you would have to go to a testing center or proctor. Be sure that if you contact a community college, you're talking to the right testing center. For example, CSCC has two: one is for their own courses, and the other is for admissions and credit testing. Try searching their website for CLEP or HESI to make sure you get to the right place.

One word of caution though - check with ISU first to make sure they will accept whatever exam you're considering. I wanted to use CLEP for SOC 100 and they wouldn't accept it - I'm taking it online through Columbus State this semester instead. I suggest starting with ISU, getting a list of what exams they accept for those courses, and then scheduling with the nearest testing center.
