before you get madder than a wet hen. Ask TCN or ISU about what states that have licences with Texas that accept the ISU credit. In other words if you can apply for a reciprocal licence with Louisianna and Louisianna accepts the ISU Program, then you go to Louisianna for your NCLEX and then simply apply to Texas for your licensure. I don't know if they do or not. but most border states accept the licence of another state with no problems and few exceptions. Since only a few states do not accept this program, and Texas has a few border states, chances are good that one of them does. You can talk to a advisor from TCN or ISU. You Don't have to use TCN, it's just easier and they do the work for you to figure all this out.

The problem here is TCN and ISU both assured me that Texas was a accepting state. Now there is no way I am putting myself through all that hard work only to travel to take the NCLEX in another state and then wait for Texas to accept it ,which they may and then they may not. I would rather know in the begining that my school is accepted by Tx.

May this can clarify things for you:
The Texas BNE does not approve ANY out of state nursing programs of any kind. They only regulate and approve nursing schools in Texas. So you will never get an approval from Texas for an out of state school.
But this is where it gets confusing:

As long as the school is approved/accredited for RN licensure by another state board, TX will allow licensure either by exam or endorsement.
So you shouldn't have to go to LA for a license and then endorse into TX.
(BTW, even if you did need to get a LA license first, no need to travel, you can take the NCLEX in TX near your hometown even if getting a LA license.)

This is why ISU doesn't have Texas on their approved list, yet they claim that Texas accepts their graduates for RN licensure. ISU is most likely correct in that Texas will accept ISU grads for licensure, but I would call the BNE to be sure.

Below was taken from the TX BNE website. It named Excelsior as a specific example because Excelsior, being located in NY and approved by the NY BNE for RN licensure, would make it acceptable for licensure in TX, but I think that ISU applies here as well since ISU is approved in Indiana and other states:

"The Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas (BNE) does not approve/accredit out-of-state nursing education programs, including correspondence/on-line courses/programs. The BNE only approves and regulates nursing education programs in the State of Texas. Texas does recognize graduates from pre-licensure nursing education programs that are approved/accredited by other State Boards of Nursing as eligible to apply to take the NCLEX examination(s) and apply for licensure in Texas. Excelsior College is one of these programs. Excelsior College is approved by the New York State Board of Nursing and graduates from that program may apply to take the NCLEX-RN Examination in Texas or any other state and apply for licensure as a registered nurse in Texas."

what do they do as far as a final exam for clinical? Excelsior has a CPNE. Is the CPNE for everyone doing distance or is it only for Exclesior? Also, where do you test for your CPNE if you go to Indiana State Univ? Do you test at the facility where you are completing your clinicals? Please help!
