Indiana State University LPN-BSN 2012

Nursing Students Indiana (ISU)

Published

Hello,

I am due to start the LPN-BSN program at Indiana State University in the fall of 2012 and decided to start a thread for fellow students who may be starting around the same time so that we can connect and support each other.

I'm in Maryland ;)

Yes I'm in Athens, I'm studying Nursing care of Adults as well. I'm using Straight A's in Med Surg by Lippincott. When are you planning to take it? I'm aiming for Next month myself.

Hey TemeikaI am aiming for next month too. Is the lippincott book helping you any?

Yea, it seems to get get straight to the point

But I guess the true test will be when I take the exam.

Hi!

I have applied for the ISU program and am extremely nervous about it all.

I live in Richmond, VA and my biggest concern is about the clinical portion. When I looked up facilities that accept ISU students, there were several in the Richmond area. I'm nervous that maybe that list isn't up to date or no one in my area is in the program and therefore the places approved will be confused about the program. I just don't want to get so far and then hit a very disappointing wall.

I previously completed all the Excelsior College Nursing Concepts (back when they were called that, I feel like they're called something else now along with more exams and something called an FCCA - not required when I was going), but failed the CPNE. It was devastating to go through the entire program only to make one false move and - DISMISSED! It has taken me years and years to recover. I hate to sound dramatic, but when you work so hard and prepare for something so important in your life, it really takes a toll.

At any rate, there are several appealing aspects to ISU's program and I'm hoping this will be a good fit!

Anyone else working on this program in the Richmond (or anywhere in Virginia, really) area? Anyone graduate from this program in my neck of the woods? I'd love to hear your experience and maybe some words of encouragement, tips, etc.

Also - I used to take all my Excelsior exams at a testing center about 20 minutes away. I am hoping they will serve as my proctor for all required tests? (TEAS, the 4 challenge exams, etc.) If not, where has everyone found a constant, reliable place to take these tests? I live very close to Virginia Commonwealth University. They will administer CLEP exams, so I could always try them?

I also wonder what ISU will say or do with all of the Excelsior Nursing Concept exams I have already taken and passed.

Trying to maintain a positive attitude and determined to do my best!

Thanks for any help!

Hi. I am planning to attend ISU in summer 2012. I know this is a bit down the road for me, but am wondering about clinicals/preceptorship. Do you have to attain clinical hours in a variety of healthcare settings (i.e. mental health, med surg, etc), or can you complete all of your clinical hours at one faciliity?

Thanks so much for any info!

Hi, I'm in the program from IL, If u want ur bsn, it's the only program that's online that will go straight to the bsn.

Selfless888 how far into the program are you?

If the testing facility is authoirzed to do testing, you should be able to use it. ISU has guidelines for the proctored facility. A univeristy proctor is a good choice if they take outside students.

As to what is accepted by ISU and what is not--you must submit your transcripts for evaluation. That is the only way that you will know. However, no core nursing classes ever transfer. The nursing classes mentioned for the LVN-BSN are to be taken in the ISU nursing program
