Indiana State University LPN-BSN 2012

Nursing Students Indiana (ISU)

Published

Hello,

I am due to start the LPN-BSN program at Indiana State University in the fall of 2012 and decided to start a thread for fellow students who may be starting around the same time so that we can connect and support each other.

I'm in Maryland ;)

I had to retake the Science only portion because I didnt meet the benchmark, (got a 50 and passing is a 52). I'm unsure if you will have to take only the reading portion, or the whole thing since the individual score was low as well.I would contact Franci Rubin, she handles all the TEAS stuff.

I just applied for spring of 2013. I am a bit nervous, but staying positive. Feel free to email me. Good luck with the admission process.

Nah, I used the ATI book and the online ATI practice exams. I thought they where very helpful.

I also used an egg timer when I did the practice exams from the book, that helped with time time part.

Thanks for the info. I will def look into it.

LadyinScrubs-I'm starting to freak out about clinical placement in California. I'm starting to feel that this was a bad decision I made. Will any of the California students get any clinical sites at all? If they dont, will Ca BON reject the ISU online program in the bear future? Who can I contact bc I feel an anxiety attack coming on reading that Ca clinical placement is difficult.

You have mentioned valid concerns, and you are not alone. Imagine being in the program and having the same concerns. So far, I don't think anyone has discussed their concerns with the CA BON. ISU has failed to address concerns.

In fact, there was one very aggressive poster, who appears to be an ISU employee, who attacked my posts--although my posts have always been based on fact. I value information I provide and know the definition of lible and slander. Anything I post about ISU is based on solid fact and other evidence--not rumor or hearsay.

There is another poster--who also attacked me about the information I provided--yet this person has never taken any ISU classes, has never applied to the program, and has never taken any ISU nursing classes, yet posts information about the program. As I stated before, I believe this person is an employee of TCN and/or ISU. If the person is not a student at ISU, why take the time to post?. Why hide? If the posters are employeed by TCN and/or ISU, why not be honest to those who are reading their posts?

Yes you can take every class of the general Ed BSN requirements at a community college except the Jr. Year writing class. I have taken all of my classes over the past 2 years while I finished my LVN program. I am taking my last class- pathophysiologythis summer online. I just finished the first semester of ISU's LVN to BSN program and was very glad I chose this program. I will graduate in June 2014.

NurseCinda,Are you taking the Patho class at ISU? I'm enrolled for their Summer I session.

Nursecinda, are you in California? How many semesters is it taking for you to complete this program?

Nursecinda-I like to know too if you're in California and was it hard to find clinical placement.

I AM INTERESTED IN THIS PROGRAM!! I'm in California..but just wondering how is taking online classes?? Is it difficult?

For those of you in California, ISU assigns you to your clinical placement. There are few placements in SoCal--unless you can be placed at a acute care facility where you work, and they accept the placement. I understand there is a better opportunity to be placed up in NoCal because of the facilities that accept Sonma State Students.

To answer how many semesters it will take a student to complete the LPN to BSN program--well it depends on whether the student already has an AA degree and/or a bachelors. The reason is not only do the nursing students need to take all university gen classes but also the prerequisites for the program. If you have a bachelors, then there is far less to take.

There are 6 clinicals and 8 lecture classes. For Calif students, the BON stated that ISU/SSU students can take only 1 clinical a semester. So at the earliest, it will take you between 2.5 - 3 years or longer to get your BSN. It all depens on whether classes are offered during the summer semester, whether clinical placements are available, and the gen ed classes that the student needs to take. If there is no clinical placement available, or a wait list for the placement, the student will have to wait.
