Does anyone go here? I was looking for forums online (through this site) and most of the posts are several years old.
I am looking for more information regarding this school? How did you like the clinicals, classroom sizes and professors?
I am currently a student and love it here. Now I won't lie, most of the time I'm stressed and want to pull my hair out but that is simply the nature of the beast.
Clinical- AWESOME! Mainly because there are few other programs that parallel theory and clinical together from the beginning. After the first level nursing courses the clinical workload increases substantially but still worth the experience.
Non-nursing- 12-60+ depending on the course
Class schedule for my first year went like this
(Clinical times vary depending on your class schedule)
NUR 128 (lecture) 0800-0950 and 1030-1150
COR 3 1800-2000
NUR 127 (lecture) 0800-0950 and 1030-1150
NUR 128 (clinical) 1400-1900
NUR 127 (clinical) 0700-1400
COR 3 1800-2000
The professors are similar to other universities some are amazing and some are not so amazing. I feel as like I am getting a good education and will be as prepared as one can be for a nurse. A job I consistently am told is one that is difficult to prepare for and you learn the most in your first year on the job.
Hope this helps.
Also!!! You will kick yourself if you don't do this! There is a long wait to be accepted! While you are waiting get in these classes! Even if you have a bachelors already you have to have completed these!
A&P 1 & 2
Writing 1 & 2
AND if you can apply to St. joe and wipe out your core classes before nursing starts that will help you very much. (If you already have a Bachelor degree you only have to take COR 9 & 10)
Hope this helps! Good luck!
