Greetings, my husband was recently offered a job in Bloomington, Indiana. I would like to know what are the RN hospital-based opportunities like for new graduates in Bloomington and/or Indianapolis. Non-hospital opportunities? Average hourly wage? Any diversity issues? Thank you.

Moving your post to the Indiana forum, where you're more likely to get responses. Good luck!

Someone told me that IUMedCenter in Indy is hiring. I don't know how true, but doesn't hurt to try. Try this link: http://www.clarian.org/

I used to live in Evansville, 2 hrs south of Bloomington. Wages there are low, but I don't know where you are coming from comparatively. Nurse/patient ratios are generally pretty high in IN. Bloomington probably has better diversity than Evansville, which had very little. Last I heard in 2007, Evansville hospitals were offering 19-20$ per hour before shift differentials for 3-4 yrs of experience nursing. I think the wages might be slightly better in Bloomington, but I have never worked there. Indy probably pays the best, with the best working conditions (academic hospitals).

I've worked all over southern IN, and the pay is about the same.....
