U.S.A. Indiana

Published

This is the "Not In" thread, or for anyone that's planning on applying for Spring Semester by the Sept 1st deadline.

We need love too! :loveya:

My Boring Stats:

A's in prereq's except ANP 2...taking that class now.

Horribly embarrassing TEAS at 76, still have two more tries. (Which is why I'm taking math and phys sci this summer. lol)

Hope to get into the Bloomington or Terre Haute programs. (Yay! Greene county gets region pts at both. lol)

Currently frazzling myself out with 5 online classes

It's nice to meet you....whoever you are....

Blah, still nothing.

Specializes in Neurology.

Nothing here either, sheesh! Hopefully tomorrow!

Leen, cool! Just out of curiosity what letter does your last name start with? LOL just trying to figure out if there is a rhyme or reason to it.

My last name starts with a "T", so I am sort of at the end of the alphabet. :D

I bet they go with the "top of the stack" approach :)

Well that blows my theory out of the water LOL.

Wow, Leen....I'm way jealous! I've been stalking Campus Connect like it's my JOB! I know it must be really hard to figure out how to schedule so many people for these spots, making sure the classes don't overlap and trying to get people to clinicals near their homes. Still, you can't blame us for being anxious!!! It's already been a long wait up to this point!

I just want to be able to buy our books ahead of time b/c I'd like to become vaguely familiar with them more than 2 days before classes start! haha! If I remember correctly, I think they said the book packages wouldn't be ready until after Christmas :( I have considered doing it on Amazon (thanks to your sleuthing, Carlos!) but I'm wondering about those CDs/DVDs that come in the Ivy Tech bundle--Just wonder if we can figure out what they are and where/how to get them?? I'm a newbie so of course I'm afraid I won't have EVERYTHING I "need!"

Annie I'm gonna ask my neighbor about those discs. She graduated a year ago but she might at least know what they are and how important they are.

The ones that come with the Taylor Fundamentals book are like 16-18 discs that have little videos of pretend nursing students running around clinical doing stuff. I do watch them, but not everything that they perform is the way that we have to do them for checking off with the teachers. Still, it's good to be able to watch them I think.

I ordered mine from the Ivy Tech online bookstore and they sent me the old ones on dvd that was missing one disc. My classmates that bought the books from the on campus bookstore got the new and correct ones that are cds and only playable on the computer. So far all of the information has been the same though.

I was looking up the books and wanted to note that on our list that says "Sparks & Taylor's nursing diagnosis reference manual", at the meeting they said that one was NOT on our list anymore and will be replaced by a book by the same Carpenito author that is near the bottom of the list. (so there will be two Carpenito books). I looked up on ebay and found a book by Carpenito called "Nursing Diagnosis: Application to Clinical Practice, 12th Ed." that I wonder if that is the one. They didn't give the name at the meeting but it sounds like it might be right to replace the Sparks &Taylor nursing diagnosis reference manual.

Lennon, question for you: our book list has Stedmans Medical dictionary for health professions and nursing. I already own Mosby's dictionary of Medicine, Nursing, and Health Professions that I bought for Med. Term. class last year. Do you think I could use that one instead of buying the Stedmans? I mean, a dictionary is a dictionary, isn't it?
