Ivy Tech Spring '10 Applicants

U.S.A. Indiana

This is the "Not In" thread, or for anyone that's planning on applying for Spring Semester by the Sept 1st deadline.

We need love too! :loveya:

My Boring Stats:

A's in prereq's except ANP 2...taking that class now.

Horribly embarrassing TEAS at 76, still have two more tries. (Which is why I'm taking math and phys sci this summer. lol)

Hope to get into the Bloomington or Terre Haute programs. (Yay! Greene county gets region pts at both. lol)

Currently frazzling myself out with 5 online classes

It's nice to meet you....whoever you are....

I'm in CRN: 24203 (Section H0G! lol) for Micro, and I'm also taking Online Chem in SB, but my CRN is 25831.

I was pretty disappointed in the fact that I had to select a lot of fall classes totally at random. I love when they are on ratemyprofessors.com. lol

Hello all! this is the first time I have posted on this site so hope all goes well. :) But for those of you attending Ivy Tech Indy or applying, I have some questions.

First of all, some background...I am an LPN, got it at Ivy Tech Columbus. Started the transition there last summer, and HATED it. The instructors were mostly the same ones I had in LPN school but something had changed, and anyway maybe it wasn't the right time for me. I am wanting to give it a second try, but at the Indy campus.

Anyone have any advice, such as how competitive it is, I have As and Bs in all my prereqs...should I retake the classes I have Bs in? I got right in to the Columbus transition, so do you think this will be as easy at the Indy campus? Anyone know where they do clinicals?

Any and all information would be GREATLY appreciated!! thanks!:bowingpur

Hi, I was wondering if you could tell me more about the aphy101 102 you are taking online, do you ever have to go to the school for labs, or tests. I am actually in Gary but the 8 week 101 is in Terra Haute and that would be a really far drive. Also is it true you have to dissect something?

Online 101 and 102 do not require you to travel to the campus that it is out of, but you do have to go to your home campus twice for proctored tests.

I took 101 online and didn't actually dissect anything even though there was a sheep brain and cow eyeball in the kit. For 102 we are supposed to be dissecting a fetal pig but I am not doing it--there are a lot of pics on the internet to refer to, plus a website that you are supposed to look at as part of the at-home 'lab'. So far I've managed to do fine on the quizzes.

Thank-you for responding. I am in The LPN program now and graduate in Dec. I want to then go into the RN program but by the time I apply my A&Ps I took 10 yrs. ago will be expired , so I was told I have to retake them to apply, which I think is dumb. So basically I am trying to figure out the easiest way of doing them. I was told I could test out of them but I would only be given a C for the class. Maybe I will test out of one and hopefully pull an A for the other one. Do you have an opinion on which A&P is easier to take online?

If I were you I wouldn't test out of one for a C. The competition to get in is too high to try to get in with a C. Then again I'm not sure about the competition to get into the transition program, maybe it's not as competitive, but I would definitely talk to some other people and find out before testing out for a C.

About 101 or 102 online, it's hard to say which is 'easier' online since neither is easy LOL, but so far I've thought that 101's quizzes were easier than 102's quizzes, but 101's tests were harder than 102's tests (of which I've only taken 2 of the 4 tests for 102 so far). That's just for me though. Things like discussion boards depend on the instructor. The Discussion boards in my 101 class were harder to do and my instructor was much harder in grading them than my disc. boards in my 102 class have been.

I had a B in 102 and C in 101 and got into the LPN program, so I'm thinking test out of 101 with C and try for an A in 102. May I ask who your instructors were? (Initials only).

For 101 out of Muncie I had H.S. For 102 out of Columbus I have A.P.R.

I think 102 is a LOT harder to take online than 101, I don't like having the proctored midterm. lol However, I think it depends on the person. = ) "They" always said 102 was supposed to be easier, but I feel like I've had to do twice as much work/studying.

For 101 out of Gary, I had L.R. (loved the class) and for 102 out of Columbus I have A.P.R as well.

Just feel like venting today.

Blackboard kept giving me errors last night when I was doing quizzes...."This page is not available". I emailed my professor, told her that I was having issues, and that I would take them in the morning, when BB had (hopefully) calmed down. No response from prof, and the quizzes are gone. I suppose that those are my drop quizzes. Understandable, but irritating at as all get out. I could have used those ding dang points. = )

This probably isn't relevant, except that I don't want to be starting the "not in" thread for next semester too! lol

I think if they can verify for you that BB was having issues when you were trying to take the quizzes, then she would have to open them back up for you. I'd contact the BB techie people to ask about it. I also wouldn't expect to hear back from her in any sort of timely manner:Crash:

I've had a similar situation happen to me before too, just email the instructor and hopefully they will correct it for you.
