Ivy Tech (Indiana) Nursing

U.S.A. Indiana

Hello all,

This is my first day and thread on this site. I would like to hear from any of the Ivy Tech students who are trying to get into the LPN/ASN programs or who has been accepted. Or anyone else who has taken the TEAS V exam.

For the Ivy Tech students, how was your TEAS V test and what was the hardest part for you? If you were accepted into either program what were your pre req class grades?

For everyone else how was your teas V tests? I don't know if the TEAS V differs state to state, or the same. Does anyone know the average TEAS scores for the programs? I have a million questions, I know...I'm just nervous about this whole process. I have been a CNA/HHA/QMA for 17 years and ready to move up and on.

I am currently finishing up my Healthcare Support (AAS) degree and currently taking A&P 101 and Nutrition, and will graduate in the Spring. I would like to keep going towards my ASN but the TEAS V scares the living day lights out of me.

Thank you all!

I am currently enrolled as an ASN student at one of the campuses. The TEAS V was pretty difficult, especially the science portion. I did extremely well on the Math portion and Reading section. Science, not so much. It's such a broad topic that it's hard to pinpoint specific areas you should particularly study. I recommend getting a TEAS Study Guide. I do believe that all the TEAS tests that Ivy Tech uses is through ATI, but I would look into that just in case at your particular campus. I scored about an 84% after adjusting the scores according to Ivy Tech's grading scale.

I am currently waiting to see if I got accepted into the program at either Valpo or Gary for the spring semester.

I agree completely with cracklingkraken, the science is tough to study because it is so broad. I used the study guide, tons of youtube videos and bought the ATI practice test online. It all paid off. Initially when I took the practice test the first time I got a 53, after studying I brought that up to a 75. I ended up with an 88 on the actual exam.

Don't be scared by the test. Just buy the practice TEAS V book or rent it from your library. I highly suggest taking the test twice. I've never heard of anyone getting a lower score on their second attempt. I will advise the science is most difficult. I think mostly chemistry because it's been so long since I've taking it. I got a 68 my first try without studying and a 79 my second try after going over the sections I needed improvement on over about a 3 day period.

You can do it!

Specializes in ICU.

I am currently an ASN student in my first semester. The hardest part was the science for me. I found the math to be extremely easy. Nothing harder than algebra I. And if you have taken English 111 you should be fine on the other parts.
