Hello everyone! And Congratulations for everyone who was accepted. I was accepted to Lawrence for ASN. :) I have a question. Does anyone know about the nursing scholarship the state gives out? I have a bachelor's degree already, but I'm back in school for nursing. I checked SSACI website on information about it. I applied for it. The website says you must be a current undergraduate student working towards an associate's or a first bachelor's. I'm not working towards another bachelors degree, but I am working towards an associate's. Does that mean I'm still eligible for this aid?

Good news... I got the call from Anderson today, a spot opened up and I have been accpeted into the ASN program. I'm so excited. I was happy to be in the PN program, but really wanted to go straight into the ASN. Doin' the happy dance!!:)

Just wondering..for those of you who have been to orientation, how overwhelmed were you with all the info given?

I went last week, the upfront costs were a little shock ( I knew there would be some, but didn't expect it to be that much :icon_roll ).

All the info that has to be scanned and uploaded and attached and completed before I can even register for classes has me nervous, but other than that...wasn't too bad.

I felt alittle overwhelmed. The cost is okay with me, because I know it is more than three times as much at other colleges. Still hurts to have to pay that much, but we've been preparing to spend it. I am getting overwhelmed with the vaccination records. I have had all my records sent to my pcp(from birth to now, I'm 36), and I called, and they told me that dont show any records of my vaccinations. WTH!!! So I'm on a records hunt now.

Just take a deep breath..of course I need to take several:) Best of luck.

You might check with the high school you went to...that's how I got my records. Of course the chickenpox vac wasn't around when I was a kid and only 1 MMR. I got my titers, TB, and tDap done monday; had my tb read today and of all the titers I got, I'm good on the HepB, rubella and mumps, still waiting for the measels and chickenpox to come in. I think once I get all that info uploaded and sent in I will be able to breath :lol2:

I had orientation today and already had all my stuff uploaded and taken care of last week. When we accepted our invitation, we were sent an email with all the stuff we had to do BEFORE orientation. We have until July 9th to get it all done, but we've had 3 weeks to get the ball rolling.

Thankfully, I was able to get it all done last week. Made orientation a lot easier to handle!

lilboop,

I called my highschool and they no longer have my vacc records ( I graduated in 93). SO frustrated. THe little booklet my mom had for me when I was a child is not all the way filled out, so some vaccs are missing on there. Looks like I will be getting a Titer. Sigh!

Hmmm...I graduated in 87, I wonder if the school corp. would have your records? Have you checked with your local health dept. I'm not sure what year, but the state at some point started keeping track of vaccs.

Well if you can't find them...the titer isn't too bad, it's one blood draw(with several tubes) and they can test for whatever you need.

I wish that all the campuses did that...It sure would make things a lots easier and less stressfull!

If you've lived in Indiana all your life, check with the board of health in your area. When I went for my last Hep B shot, the lady asked me what my maiden name was and was able to pull up every single vaccine I had ever had in the state! It's worth a shot.

ETA: I graduated in 1994, so they kept records at least back to 1976!

Congrats to all the new nursing students out there! And if you made it in to the PN program but wanted the ASN program just remember that is an AWESOME acccomplishment and just a little ways down the road you can transition to the ASN.

A special shout out to the new Bloomington nursing students! I will be starting my second year in the ASN program in August. Bloomington is fabulous and you're in for one heck of a ride! Good luck! :)

Thanks for noting that the PN program is still an awesome accomplishment. I was accepted into the PN program at the Gary campus. I am however a little confused as to how to transition into the RN program. I was told by a former student that it's better to finish the LPN program, sit for boards then move on to the RN. Another student said reapply for the RN program next semester and transition that way. Any suggestions?
