U.S.A. Indiana

hi everyone..

Im planning to get into the nursing world,i just wnna ask how much they make an hour just to give me an idea of the salary.Thank oyu so much.....be right here waiting...

as an lpn for 10 years i make 19.44 and 7.50 more on the hour for weekend option. so the wage scale if wide open that i can see.

That is a good wage for a LPN. Where in Indiana are you?

I am an LPN and make $18.00 at LTC. Thats day shift. It's $3 more an hour for weekends, $1 evenings and $2 nights. I am currently pursuing my RN and at local hospitals, new RN's usually start out at 19-20. At my LTC facility I will probably make $23.00 or more!

I work in northwest indiana at a hospital. i am registry there- which means i do not get benefits or paid time off, however i get much more an hour than base staff make. I am currently an LPN, will have my Rn in may '07. I make $23/hr. when i worked midnights i made $25/hr for shift differential. i believe staff LPn make around $15/hr...to me it is worth it to make more an hour. When i get my RN i will be making $34-36/hr. I love registry, i would recommend it to anyone that can go without benefits through work, like if you can get on your husbands- or even if you can purchase your own for cheaper. My friend works in a physicians office (cardiac doctors) and she only makes $13.75/hr. Unfortunately offic positions are not that high paying, at least in this area. hope this was helpful.

Hello,

I moved to Indiana from Vegas with 6 months experience as a floor nurse. I now work in an ICU. They basically put me in their new graduate program because I didn't know anything ICU-related. When I was looking at this site for what salaries to expect I was disappointed, I found it highly inaccurate and was sure I was taking a HUGE paycut. I know some posters will be upset that I wrote this but seriously you need to know what is offered to get excited about what is really paid.

Starting pay in the major Indianapolis hospitals is 20-21/hour weekdays

If you work at night you get 23-25/hour for weekdays.

If you work weekend days you get 25-26/hour.

If you work weekend nights you get about 30/hour.

If you work special shifts where you either work holidays or commit to being on weekends permanently for the year you can make from 35-48/hour.

They also offer overtime which ranges from 1.5 your pay to twice it per hour. That can potentially be 60/hour.

It is amazing to be able to make 70grand your first 2 years out of school. I know I went to an expensive school so it is fabulous to make such good money to pay off my loans.

Good luck, you picked a very lucrative career!

The state of Indiana is much more than the areas around Indianapolis :lol2:

You guys in Indy GENERALLY do well. The rest of us take a whoopin'!!!

Nurses in some of the other counties do very well ($). Others have gotten left behind in on the wage scale. I got my info on my local hospital STRAIGHT from HR, a local nursing chool dean and three students, pals of mine who had just graduated.

Yes, there are hospitals in Indiana what will pay a new grad RN $17-19 per hour.

If it were not for the lower cost of living in Indiana, many nurses in this state might REALLY be hurting.

YMMV.

I am a LPN working agency at Wishard makin 26 hour

I am a new RN of 3.5 months and I make $23.00 in northwest indiana.

Specializes in Ped's ER.

Okay, maybe I'm just lucky. I live in the Indianapolis area, and just had an interview at a major hospital in Indy this morning. I'm finishing my RN in December (39 days). Anyway, I was told today that if I'm selected to start work as a graduate nurse January 1st, that I would start at $20.50/hour. Plus $4/h shift differential for working 7p-7a. This is for a GRADUATE NURSE. The pay would then go up once I pass the NCLEX-RN and get my license. I wouldn't work for less than $20/h. I am currently an EMT and make $18/h. The salaries I see posted here seem REALLY low for an RN position

It is amazing how underpaid some nurses are. I left a career making 27 an hour to go back to school for this field. I know I must be out of my mind, but I am hoping it will make me happy in the end. Here's hoping...

I just moved in indianapolis and just got my LPN license. I have been offered 19 dollars an hour at one place and 20 dollars an hour at another. Don't settle for less

Specializes in Peds ED, Peds Stem Cell Transplant, Peds.

I live in Indiana work in Chicago. I make 1/3 more working in Chicago

35/hr with full benefits

DO they have this option at every hospital? I too am from NW Indiana, would you be willing to tell me which hospital this is? I am very new to all this. I am starting the LPN program in January through Ivy Tech, so I will hopefully be licensed in a little over a year, then will transition to RN. I don't need any benefits, as my husband has really good insurance. Thank you for any advice you can give me!:)
