Re: A NON- Ivy tech question-- Bloomington nurses???
From what I have heard/experienced about both hospitals ( I live in B-town)............
Monroe Hospital is small, well staffed and generally well recommended. Their staff turn over is next to nil.
Bloomington Hospital..............I personally would not take my dog there (JMHO).
The staff I know who work there dislike it, state the management does nothing to keep them there, no incentives and the pay is below average.
My personal experience with BH is horrid. Giving me Versid and then Demerol, even though it was clearly listed in my chart as allergies...........I went into Resp arrest. 2nd time in hospital due to severe asthma attack, I waited 8 hours to even get a inhalation treatment after I was admitted. I literally called my husband and crawled up to the nurses station and told them ( as they sat at the desk laughing and telling jokes) that I was leaving and going to Morgan Hospital for treatment. They convinced me to stay and I demanded they call my MD. He literally screamed at them for being so lax( I could hear him yelling at the charge nurse).
BTW- that charge nurse is no longer employed with BH for many reasons- the above included.
When I graduate next year, BH will not be a place that I apply to. They are merging with Clarian Health so that may help with issues. But personally, if I need medical attention, I will drive to Martinsville or Bedford to go to the ED.
Sorry BH nurses. JMHO of 9 years experience. I am sure there are many nurses at BH that will say otherwise and love their jobs. But after almost dying 3 times because of errors, I don't go there anymore.
