Well that's good! Congrats to both of you for passing. What score do you want to try to get to apply with?

Thanks for the link!

I'm going to retake the test this upcoming Wednesday. I really need to get some math, physics, and punctuation practice time in!

Hi everyone. I'm new to this site, but just thought I'd give my input on the TEAS. I took it yesterday for the first time and got a 90% overall. I'm happy with that and don't think I'm going to take it again. I highly recommend taking the online practice test through ATI, even though its $30. It really let me know what areas I needed to study. I used a combination of the ATI study guide and the Kaplan book to help me prepare. I think it was worth the effort.

Also, does anyone know what kind of point totals it takes to get into Ivy Tech's RN program? They were a bit reluctant to tell us this in our mandatory orientation/information session.

I'm curious to know that too, Circe. Great job on the TEAS

The rumors I hear say: Mid 80s TEAS score is upper range. There are scores in the 90s, that are rather scarce. Low 80s and high 70s is the norm. I may re-take the TEAS March 24 to improve my score. Now that the pressure is off I may be able to do better. I always go the extra mile. The English is my weak spot. I score high on un-timed practice. The TEAS has the first 15 questions in paragraph format. I had to scroll up and down 4 times for each question, looking at the underlined problem then back down at potential answers. I have trouble identifying the problem to correct. Verb problems or punctuation. During a practice, I am focused on one area at a time. I know to look for punctuation solely or verb tense solely. The mini- sentences are easier., also the sentences asking for a synonym for the underlined word. The test is formatted assuming the test taker is more experienced linguist troubleshooter. I will stop whining now.
I initially was freaking out on the science..... I figured out how to do that section, also the Math section. I scored an even 80 on both of those. The reading I scored a 95.

Thanks MasonsMommy! I was happy with my score, but one of my friends thinks I should take it again to see if I can improve my score. I told her she was crazy.

I've got 3 A's in my prereq's + my 90. I'm carrying an A in my last prereq. right now. At the very worst, I'll get a B. We also get 3 points for living in the region we are applying. So I'm looking at 213 if I get an A, or 203 if I get a B. If I can't get in with those points, then I suppose it wasn't meant to be. My cousin, who has worked her way up from an LPN to an FNP-C, said to apply for both RN and LPN programs. Surely with my scores, one of the two programs will accept me.

samulation: Good luck with your next attempt. Some of the English threw me on the test too. The scrolling up and down on the reading and English sections was really annoying! I don't know about your test, but my English section had an overkill of correct comma usage. Anyway, best of luck to you.

Thanks everyone for this discussion. The TEAS has been a huge stress for me. I took it the first time last month and scored an 85. I took it "cold" without studying because I realized that if I wanted three chances to take it before the 4/1/09 deadline, I had to get in there and do it right away. I can retake it starting Wednesday and hope to spend some time studying and improve my score. I am really hoping to be able to get my score up to somewhere in the 90-95 range so I can rest a little easier about being accepted. It seems like EVERYONE is applying to the program this fall, and with the enormous amount of interest in the Lawrence campus program, I am starting to think only students who have missed almost zero points will be accepted!

Ugh, I don't want to think about how many are applying. I hate that it rests basically entirely on the stupid TEAS scores Good luck on your second test, I'll be taking mine Wednesday too *cross fingers*

Ugh well I am going to take it for the first time this coming Friday. I have spent a couple hours on the ATI study guide tonight but darnit this stupid long division is killing me (like 254/1275). I am a Math whiz but ya know- since the invention of the calculator

I think I will go ahead and do the online practice test and see how I do and just continue to study this week. I should have enough time to retake it by the end of March in order to apply by April 1st. Dumb question- but we get our scores after the test is over right? We don't have to wait a couple days?
