That's the program that they're just beginning in the spring of 2010, right? I can't remember where I heard it or from whom, but I was told that they were having trouble filling their "cohort," or whatever it is they call it for the spring. That would seem to indicate that it would be easier to get into than some of the other programs in the area that are more competitive. I would suggest giving them a call or setting up a meeting and asking them directly about your chances. I have been told by people who will be going to Marian University that they met with a counselor who told them they would be guaranteed a spot so long as they completed their pre-reqs on time. Perhaps IWU might be the same way if they are having trouble filling spots?

I had some info emailed to me last year about IWU's accelerated BSN. I'm not sure if this is still accurate or not, but at that time the info said that the program's tuition was approximately $30,000, not including fees, books, scrubs, etc. That program is only up in Marion, not Indy or online. They do not accept online science course pre-reqs, although I don't know how they would know for Ivy Tech since the transcript does not denote whether a course was face to face or online. The program is 30-35 contact hrs a week, M-F for classes, and clinicals could be on evenings or Sat. as well.

Have you talked to admissions at Marian? APHY 101 at Ivy Tech is only considered half finished at Marian. So if you have only completed 101 and not 102 it wouldn't count...and you could take it there. You may talk to them...I am sure that a C wouldn't hinder you considering Ivy Tech doesn't use the +/- system. That is, assuming you are at Ivy Tech! haha

Just a comment on the Marian posts here. I met with an admissions counselor from there a few weeks ago. If you want to get in the SPring class, there are still spots, I think. I would give them a call, because i have talked to several schools, and with each, some rules can be flexible. If they have a few spots left, maybe they'll let some classes count that didn't? I would go to the website ( www.marian.edu/stv) and give them a call. what can it hurt?

Re: Indiana Wesleyan (ABSN)...how competitive? I am not sure how competitive the program is. I applied with an A in my Anatomy and Physiology I course, a TEAS score of 85, and an overall GPA of 3.57. I received a conditional acceptance pending my completing Anatomy and Physiology II, Microbiology, and Chemistry at IVY Tech this semester. So, far I have A’s in those courses. I find meeting the school’s requirements are less stringent than many other schools I have researched. For example, when I checked into Marian University’s program, there were about another 21 credit hours of general education courses (not math or science) I needed to complete in order to begin their program. So, I decided against it. As for the costs, the tuition is $507.00/ credit hour. Because of tuition increase scheduled for the Summer II term, the costs will go up to $527.00. According to the information I received, total tuition will be $32,501. The only grant provided is the Nursing Grant through the state. Of course you would have to apply for it and I understand it is based upon financial need. Therefore, the only other option would be to take out loans. The program is interesting because it takes a normal semester and divides it into two-eight week sessions. You would take two to three courses each session. Their lab is UNBELIVABLE! I think it is well worth the costs! If you have any questions, let me know. I have a lot of soft copies of what I was sent that I am sure will help you in deciding if the program is for you. | | No. 9 |

Hey! At this point Im not sure if I should even do an accelerated program. I have 2 small children and would have to move to Indiana to do the program if Im accepted, I live in Michigan. When I applied I didnt realize that the program started in July, I kind of just assumed that it started in the fall. And I'll have 6 credits to complete in the summer for my current degree, so that would mean that I would have absolutely no break!
And on top of that the next TEAS test in MI isnt until the end of January and I'd like to know what school Im attending by then. So Im gonna hold off on finishing the application process until Im completely sure. But do you think that this school is single parent friendly? Im sure its not, but just thought Id ask. I was drawn to the progrm because I already have all of the pre reqs completed. Is the nursing grant only for residents of Indiana and how much is the grant exactly?
