I have a couple of questions.

I am currently enrolled in Ivy Tech-Terre Haute campus. Its my second semester. I earned a C in Anatomy and I am retaking English 111 because I didn't get the grade I wanted. I am also taking Psych101 and Math 050. Do you think that I will have a problem getting into the nursing program with a C? Should I retake it? I have been out of school for almost 10 years and I was a little rusty on my study habits. I am planning on applying at Terre Haute, Greencastle, and Bloomington. I didn't know if it is possible to test out of a class either. I am taking Math050 and I feel that I could pass it very easily and would rather move on to the classes that count. The person who signed me up for my classes didn't give me a recent Compass exam, they took the one that I did 4 years ago....which doesn't make sense to me! Plus I can't take Anatomy 102 until I pass math 050, so that delays me one more semester and I would really like to get into the program as quick as I can. Also, is it possible to work a flexible full time job, be a mommy of two little girls (5 months and 17 months), and get good grades??? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

First of all you can definately go to the counselors at the school and tell them you want to retake the compass exam to try and test intothe needed math class. Also, yes you can do the work, kids, and program and get good grades; with alot of hard work on your time. About the C in anatomy, I dont know anyone who personally got in with a C, Although Im sure it is possible. It all depends on your total points when applying to the program. At the Valpo campus the lowest I think that got in was with 189 points, but Ive read where some other campuses had low of 206. So it just depends on how everyone else did. Dont give up no matter what and just work hard, and everytime you get discouraged just remember how much better off you and your kids will be when its all done.(thats how I make it through most days!!!)

I would retake the ANP if you have the time/money. If nothing else, getting at least a B in that one will give you a little wiggle room in the other classes and on the TEAS. If you keep the C, you will have to be near perfect in everything else to compensate.
The 050 class....like gymmom said, you can retake the Compass and test out of 050 that way.

I worked full time and did all prereq's online...except advanced physiology (not available online), it is possible. As for being accepted with a c in one of the core 4...I don't believe so. I was accepted at Terre Haute and it was way to competitive to get a C. Just retake it. Good luck.

I worked full time through all of my prereqs. I took Psych, English, and ANP 102 all online, and 101 in class. I got As in all of them, but I also don't have children to deal with. I'd retake the class you got a C in because losing those points on your application will make it really difficult for you to get accepted.

Yes I would retake ANP 101... I got a C this semester and my teacher told me to retake it. I'm going for LPN. Good LUCK!
