Brown Mackie College

I started in September 2005. It is expensive, but if you get a student loan you have 10 years to pay it off. I think its worth it since the waiting list at other schools are ridiculous. And once you graduate you won't have a problem finding a job because nursing staff is so short worldwide they really don't care what college you graduated from as long as you have your license. But I have to say that I have heard good and bad things about this school and others. In my opinion the teachers are well educated, you have 48hrs of theory and 48hrs of clinicals each month, and if you fail a rotation, you won't have to wait another semester/year to retake the class because they start every month.

i dont live in indiana but my best friend does she lives in hidden valley and she checked into bm college the cost is awful it was something like $270.00 per credit hour that is crazy i dont know how close you live to cincinnati but the schools are alot cheaper

Brown Mackie is expensive but some students, including me are willing to pay the fees to attend or we'll be waiting forever to get accepted into programs around here. Whereas BM don't have a waiting list and you'll finish in 15 months for the nursing program and while everyone is still waiting to get in a program you'll either be working as an L.P.N or continuing your education.

the cost for the nursing brogram is expensive. about 18,000. bur you get 10 years to pay off student loans which isn't that bad once you deduct grants and cash payments. At least you'll make more to pay off your loans.

Hi all! Can anyone that is attending Brown Mackie College in Merrillville,IN tell me what are the pre requisites for the LPN program? - Thank You

Prereqs for LPN program at BM are anatomy and physiology 1 and 2 and psychology. This is part of the 15 month program. They require you to take all three classes first and each class is taken individually for one month each. Then you get to the clinicals and labs etc etc. It will be very difficult to work with their schedule because your clinicals change from week to week and sometimes you will be dedicating 8 to 12 hours a day total.

Can you transfer in pre-reqs from another college? If you alredy have A&P along with psych would that shorten the 15 months?

Its entirely up to the dean if BM will let your credits transfer. If you have just recently taken the prereq's it probably wont be a problem. If its been a while then they may not accept them. Either way, be very adamant about trying to get your prereqs to transfer over. They never want to transfer credits because you are taking money out of their pockets by shortening the program and credits. If all else fails and you really know your A & P's and psychology and they refuse to take the old credits, then ask if you can take the final exams in these classes and if you pass then they may accept them.

Fort Wayne has Brown Mackie, IVY Tech, Purdue University, Indiana Weslyean, and Saint Francis. You can get almost any type of Nursing degree you want here. Believe me, we have no nursing shortage in our area. The employers can pick and choose.
