Truman Nursing Application Extension

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

Does anyone have any scoop on why Truman College suddenly, little more than a week before the application deadline, extended it for another month? On their Website there is an announcement that the deadline has been extended until March 1. However, they provide no explanation as to why (or how it will affect the decision process and timeline). I highly doubt they don't have enough applicants unless they are rethinking their entrance guidelines, which wouldn't surprise me, but would also be somewhat shady this late in the game. Just wondering if anyone knows of anything going on, or if it's just a ploy to get a bigger pool of applicants.

Good luck to all of us!

Definitely!

any new infos on how the selection process works??

point system still?

Two things will be considered: GPA on three prerequisites (Intro to Chem and Bio, and Math) and Compass Reading test. That's it..... so instead of competing against approximately 550 people at Truman, you will be competing against the over 2000 applicants CCC received. And you will be placed in the school they determine--so, if you don't get into top level at Truman with GPA, perhaps you will be placed elsewhere.

We'll all be notified on May 2.

Okay..this is what I heard about how the whole selection process was going to be..to tell which school you got in.. it was all going to be about boundaries based upon where you live... I think they mentioned hundreds..but I don't remember for sure..how it went.. I live near North and Ashland... North Ave is 1600 North.. they did say that some hundred lower than me..so even closer than me to downtown.. those people would be going to Malcolm X, I was considered in the Truman "area", I suppose "south" people would Daley, etc... that's how it was explained how they were probably going to divide everyone up.. Does my explanation make sense??

yes what you said make sense. when did you get that info?

i heard directly from District director of nursing. She said that "if i applied to Truman ONLY, my application will be reviewed for truman only and NOT other school". I talked to her 2-3 weeks ago.

It was at one of the info sessions at Truman..don't remember when. Well that's cool then..maybe they thought about it and figured people would be really ****** off if they did it the way they said before.. because people sure as hell would be REALLY ****** off.. and I wouldn't blame them!!

ya i am one of them. i applied to Truman only and i wanna got to Truman only! Location based selection is pretty dumb. MalcomX nursing program is the worst. I am going to call her in a few days and get an updated info on the selection process.

She also said that if you applied to two CCC nursing program, there is no guarantee which one you will get into. One of my friends did that and she is pretty much screwed. She lives all the way in the north side and she applied to Truman and Daley. if she gets into Daley instead of Truman that is like 2 hrs commute everyday.

anyway i will keep you all informed with new info when i get one

OMG that would totally suck for your friend if she gets into Daley!!! Awww... that really sucks!

Thanks for keeping us updated hon!! OH..do they ever mention anything about Wright's LPN program? It seems as if they follow a completely different application process then all the other CCC's....like they are completely separate!

np. i never really did any research into LPN program. i am not so sure about that.

Me neither really! I just applied everywhere I could and I live like 10 minutes away from the Humbolt Park location. Thanks hon!

Well then the director is giving different info to whomever calls. She told me that all applications are centralized.

She could not give me a straight answer regarding paper based applications and school preference. At this point, it is all bull*. She made it seem like all the schools were the same, when clearly they are not. Malcolm X is still seeking accredidation for goodness sake. I'm just waiting to see the outcome, and will decide if I need to file a complaint. They should have made these new changes with the next batch of folks, not in the midst of the current applications. If this process is any reflection of the "NEW" certralized nursing program...we are all screwed.
