Time for endorsement?

Anybody recently have their license endorsed in IL? I'm looking for a general timeline, preferably for endorsing during the summer months.

I am anticipating about a month between the NCLEX and the possible start of a job. I've heard that IL is notoriously slow year round but especially this time of year. I am thinking that I could expedite the process by doing the electronic fingerprinting and hand delivering my forms to the office in Springfield.

I had somebody from HR basically tell me to forget about the process being almost done in WI (expecting my ATT this week) and apply via examination in IL. That to me seems like it would take just as long and be cutting it just as close in terms of being IL licensed in time.

It took 5 months for them to issue my licence, but I have heard of some being faster, i think most times its around 3 months?

I sent mine in April 7th, check was cashed May 2nd, & my license was active May 3rd. I did electronic fingerprints & mailed it USPS priority mail. That was this year.

Wow!

I've heard of them managing it in two months before but never that quick.

I know, I was surprised. I posted on here while waiting to get mine, and someone else commented & said they sent theirs a day before mine & their license was active a day before mine. So same timeline.

I am currently waiting to be licensed as an RN by endorsement and as an APRN. Per suggestion of the office, I sent the entire packet (both licenses) together. I fingerprinted in IL back on Apr 30. I sent my packet in on May 14, 2014 via certified mail, it was received May 19th at their PO Box. My checks were cashed on June 4th for both the RN and the APRN. I checked the website today, June 7th and nothing yet. I have not called but I probably will next week. I'll update when I receive news.

Ok- here's my update: I called today and was told that they are currently working on the group of packets received 1 week prior to mine (the May 20th group he called it). He said that I could expect them to start processing mine in the next 1-2 weeks. I applied for RN, APRN, and Controlled Substances license which he knew since that information was entered into his computer. He said that they would all be done together but to expect the RN license to be issued 1-2 weeks prior to my APRN. He also said that what takes some time is that a processor has to make many calls for incomplete applications as they process them. I'll probably call on June 30th to check my status since I would like to work sooner than later for the practice I accepted a position with.

Hopefully some of you know the answer to this! I am currently in CA, and I am graduating in May, 2015. I am planning to move to IL after graduation. Is it possible to take the NCLEX in IL if I went to a CA community college? Taking the exam in CA and then endorsing would take probably at least 6 months. It makes more sense to just take the NCLEX in IL, but I am not sure if you have to take the exam in the same state where you attended school.

I think you can take it pretty much anywhere, as a foreign nurse I did it in London, England, and got me a California licence that way.

But there should be a definitive answer somewhere on the NCLEX website?

I'm thinking you should be able to take the exam in CA but in the context of applying for an IL licence.

But i am no expert, I just know what i did : )

@amundis

Yeah, you can test for IL for your NCLEX in another state, I did! You just have to apply for the state of IL and receive your ATT for IL! You can take the test in CA, but you have to apply and specify you are testing for IL, and do not apply to CA. Let me know if you have any questions

UPDATE: As of June 20th, I have both an active RN license and APN license! (one of my middle names is spelled incorrectly, but I'm hoping that's an easy fix) So total, I mailed the application on May 14th and had both licenses by June 20th! I'm not sure about the controlled substances license and when that will come through though. I've emailed to have my name edited and hopefully will not have to jump through too many hoops with that since it's just a middle name.

Thank you everyone for your responses. I was offered a position at this job and opted not to take it for various reasons. The first being that I knew it would be unlikely that I would have either a temp or permanent license by the start date. The other being based on advice from numerous family members who previously worked there and feelings I got from the interview process, that this particular hospital as a whole was not going to be a good fit for me personally.

I was licensed in WI last Friday (20th) and currently gathering all the paperwork to endorse in IL. Hopefully I will be able to get the packet sent out and an appointment for fingerprints before the weekend. I will update more as the process moves along.
