Swedish Covenant Hospital

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

Hi, just wondering if someone can give me info about the base pay Swedish Covenant offers and what their shift differentials are if they've got any? Also, does being a new grad or working in a particular specialty affect that base pay? Thanks in advance for any help!

Most hospital jobs require at least 1 year of experience.

I am not a nurse but I do work there

Right now we are on a salary freeze

BUT swedish offers new grads jobs right out of school

Specializes in L&D,MB,Pediatrics, nursery, level 2 nicu.

Umm. I am not that familiar with Swedish Covenant but pretty much ALL hospitals hire new grads at some point in time. No one would ever get to the one year mark if they didn't;) Even in this time of bad economy / hiring freeze - there are still new grad jobs available at many hospitals. There may be a little less available but they are out there.

New grads were getting 24.25 an hour last year when I started (I don't think it has gone up due to the salary freeze). Evenings is either 2.50 or 2.75 and nights 3.50 (I'm mostly nights). Right now the hiring is pretty thin, though. About all I think is open are med/surg tele unless you have experience, although it doesn't ever hurt to apply even if you don't have what they say they want--all they can do is round file the application.

they pay lower than other hospitals in the city. I got 25 for 2 years experience in 2007, went up by 50 cents in 08. Wuold have been great place except that they did not do anything about nurses who did not pull their weight or irate people who were abusive (actually they reward them with free meals).
