Resurrection University Fall 2012 Applicants

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

Hi all,

I am new here and have found the forum to be very informational. I decided to start a thread for Resurrection's fall 2012 applicants. I think it would be good to keep in touch throughout the process, so if you have any questions or comments feel free to express them here. I already submitted my application, transcripts and essay, all I need is to take the TEA's test. I'm taking it in February and am really nervous because I haven't even started studying. Has anyone taken it yet? How was it?

I am also applying to 2 other programs:

Loyola's ABSN program

Truman's Associates in Nursing program

I am debating on applying to UIC's GEP program, DePaul's MENP program and Rush's GEM program.

If anyone else is applying to these, please let me know! Thanks & good luck to all.

Wow, that's a lot. I guess I have no choice but to buy it. Thanks for the info.

O wow that's not bad for the price with all that included!! And thanks I got nervous that the shirt was a polo I only bought two of them and two pants a warmup and the lab coat that's it

The nursing package arrived today. I haven't dug through it yet but there are lots of bandages, tubing, etc. It all comes in a handy shoulder bag so that's nice I suppose.

Just wait until you guys see the Med-Surg book. HOLY $#!+!!!!!! It weighs like 15 lbs and is 3-4 inches thick. I hope we aren't expected to read all 2,300 pages! :)

Does anyone know when resu will post financial awards?

Hello Everyone!

I'm sorry to hijack the thread a little bit ;) My name is Monica and I have all of the textbooks that you will be using during your first 2 terms at ResU for sale! That includes textbooks for Foundations, Health Assessment I and II, Pathophysiologic Mechanisms, Pharmacotherapeutics in Nursing, and Client with Disruptions of Health I. I will even add some handy extras, such as Lippincotts drugs reference book, and lab reference mini book. I'm selling them for less than half of what you would normally pay. Please private message me so we can go over details if you are interested. I live in Chicago, North-West side but it's not a problem for me to meet up with you at a location that is more convenient for you, or at the Resurrection University location. AND CONGRATS TO ALL OF YOU FOR GETTING ACCEPTED INTO THE PROGRAM :)

Hi guys, I'm sure everyone of you already check out the books.

It looks like almost all of the courses needed the book Publication Manual of the APA 6th.

So, I'm wondering if you guys noticed that for the course foundation of nursing we need the 2nd printing of that same book. I'm quite confuse about that. Also, I've read some comments in amazon that the first printing has some issues, which is why they have 2nd printing on the same edition.

Resurrection financial aid department just started working on our fafsa and such this week, in case anyone else was wondering :)... does anyone know if we have to where our uniforms everyday or can we wear casual clothes on class days??

Hi everyone! I am also starting the Daytime BSN program this fall. I finally purchased my uniforms and books this week, and my nurse pack - wow, does it hurt the bank account! But, I'm excited, and expect to receive everything in the next 2 weeks or so. I was able to order everything, except the nurse pack, from other online textbook sites, and saved over $450!!!

As for the uniforms, from what they told us during orientation, we only need to wear them during lab classes, and clinicals. I am wondering if anyone knows more about the clinicals? I had originally chosen my classes so that I had one weekday free, in order to do my clinicals, but I recently received an email from the college, and they had to rearrange my schedule due to availability; now I have no days off, and wonder how I am possibly going to fit my clinicals into the week. On Monday and Tuesday I only have one class each day, but both classes are midday, which does not leave much time, during regular working hours, to fit in a clinical site. I hope we are not expected to do evenings and weekends as well, as I have a family and a resource position which requires some weekend work. I was under the impression that all classes, and clinicals would be during the weekdays for the Daytime students, as opposed to evening/weekend students. Anyone have any insight into this at all?

I was told that we can expect some terms from the program to be 6 days a week including one day from the weekend... I don't know how they make their decision on when clinicals are but hopefully it's reasonable

Is anyone having a problem getting the flu shot?

The APA manual is a style guide for writing papers properly. There's no reason you need but one copy to last you through the entire program. The most recent will have the most up to date information...

Since the shot is not available yet for this coming flu season, I uploaded proof of my shot from last fall, which was approved in that requirement slot, but given an expiration date of October I think. So I will need to get this year's shot before then and upload the new documentation. If you didn't get a flu shot last year, I guess what I did wouldn't help you and you'd have no choice but to leave it blank I guess? I wouldn't worry it since it's not something you can control! I saw at a Walgreen's that flu shot information will be available around the back-to-school time at the earliest...

I too left one day open on term A so that I could hopefully do clinical that day. Crossing my fingers that my weekends will be open for some "me time." For term B I have two full days open mid week, assumably to have clinicals both of those days. Personally, I don't care what times/days my clinicals are, but I know others have different situations at home than I do. Hopefully it will all work out in ways we want it to. Or maybe if something is completely undoable for you, they can switch to accommodate? You may be worrying for nothing so don't sweat it yet!

The wait is agonizing! But other than the financial aid and paying tuition, I am officially done with everything for school!!!!

Thank you praytotheunicorn I emailed Shirley moy and she said to put it as not applicable at this time and change it when it becomes available :) stress relieved already over that cuz I didn't want to be charged a late fee!!!! Another question is anyone short on their finances for school??
