PCCTI LPN School?

I have been doing research about LPN schools and employment. I came across a school name PCCTi located in Chicago or Oakbrook. Anyone gone there to do there program? Please tell me any information about this school? Was it a challenging program? I appreciate anyone who can help me out here. Need to make some decisions but would love to know from someone who actually took the classes.

I'm a newbie. I actually found this post when I was googling PCCTI. I'm pretty much in the same boat as most of the ladies that posted here. I'm sick of waiting to get into an RN program so I'd like to do a bridge. I called PCCTI and I'm waiting to hear back from them. I wondering if anyone can post the program schedule? Or lead me to the online version? I can't seem to find it. Thanks so much! :nuke:

I was told that there was a class starting in August that was Friday, Saturday and Sunday(I can't remember the hours but believe Fri was in the evening and Sat and Sun were pretty much all day).

The evening program starts at the end of Sept and the hours are M-Th 5:30-9:30, Friday 1-9.

The day program starts in October and I can't remember the exact hours but you are off on Friday.

Hope this helps. I decided to just start applying into BSN programs(many don't have a waiting list) because the cost of the LPN program is a lot and you can't apply for federal loans because they are not a degree granting school. I didn't want a private loan. The people there are really nice though. The school seemed like an office!

I guess the advantage of pccti was that they are always starting a new program every month, have a variety of schedules to choose from, and classroom ration is small.(That why so pricey). When I called the local community college they only offer the lpn once a yr and then its possible ur on a wait list and the classroom ration is 90 students acceptance. I am sure they break up into groups but thats alot. If ur in no rush and can wait to start nursing I would go the cheap way at a local college but if ur desperate to start and need of job then its the only way to go. Pccti is in the process of a bridge RN program next yr so if u decide to go there for the lpn, the bridge should have been begun or soon to begin already. I know I am gonna take my A&P prereq at my community college cuz Pccti want 1450.00 for that class alone. So i would try to suggest taking that somewhere else to save some money. I am planning to attend the LPN program at PCCTI in Sept. I know this will be a lot of work for me, attening school from mon-thurs. from 5-9 and still working, but I need to do this.

I used to go to Morton College, but getting into the nursing program there is ridiculous!! I spoke with the lady who is in charge of the whole nursing program and she informed me that there isn't a waiting list to get into the program, all you have to do is apply once you complete all your pre-reqs, and if you are not accepted you have to apply again. I applied once, did not get in and I'm not going to waste my time waiting to get into the program. My girlfriend actually got into the program after applying 3 times, and ended up failing a course and was bumped out of the program. I mentioned PCCTI to her, so she's going to look into the program also.

I already started the process of applying for the program. Had my transcripts sent to PCCTI. I have been studying for the HESI exam, so I can take it soon.

The admissions counslers at PCCTI are very informative and friendly. I can't wait to start classes at PCCTI and finally get my foot in the door so to speak, so I can eventually become an RN.

The way the economy is right now, I need to have some type of job security and have a career.

Wright College offers an LPN program through its Humboldt Park Vocational Center. I believe Dawson Technical Institute has one as well. Both are affiliated with the City Colleges.

For those that are considering PCCTI and will be taking a private loan. Please remember, these are not guaranteed by the government, nor is the interest rate at a fixed amount. Uncle Sam makes the interest payments on certain federally backed loans while you're in school. Private lenders capitalize the interest.

Private loans are now protected under the new bankruptcy laws. You cannot discharge them. In addition, the lender is free to raise the rate to whatever amount they desire. The latter is an important issue to remember if you miss a payment. I would strongly caution anyone from resorting to this route. You'll end up paying far too much and easily will have spent out of pocket the equivalent of one year's tuition at a private university.

hi everyone, just thought i'd update. i'll be starting pccti in june. anyone else? i cant wait. if you're taking the a & p section of the hesi make sure you have studied the cell parts/functions well. id also briefly go over each body system and have a good understanding of each. good luck!

Hello everyone,

I am a current student at PCCTI the downtown location and i would not recommend that any one attend this school. The experience has been the worst i have ever had with any school. We have had at least seven instuctor leave with no warning, no orgainzation what so ever and for the money that you pay, it's unreal. If i could get my money back and start all over right now at another school I WOULD, and I'm 2 mon. from graduation! This school really SUCKS, and if could do it all over again i would go some where else ANY WHERE ELSE. Take the time and ask some questions to a few of the current students. My class is about to graduate and we still don't have simple lab supplies. And not to mention that staff will come and get students in the middle of class for non-payment, late payment. PLEASE do your homework on this school!!!:banghead:

Please talk to some of the students at PCCTI before attending this school. I'm about ready to finish and die at the same time:banghead:. Attending this school has truly be one the worst experiences of my life. What kind of school uses crigslist as a method of hiring teacher's? We have had seven teacher and counting, with no warning that they are leaving. They just don't show up the next week. I could write book about this place, but my suggestion to any one considering this school is to try and talk to any of the current students!

Interesting comments.

I visited the school a month ago and sat for nearly twenty minutes while idle chatter occurred and phones were answered. I was never assisted. It left a very strange taste in my mouth and the impression I had was that things were very loosely run. While I can't confirm what has been posted above, I'm really not surprised. I discovered later from someone in the corporate office that packages are only available when funds are paid through government assistance programs due to the monetary cap. Person's using other forms of payment must pay the individual amounts stated. I opted to attend Samland Institute for my CNA and the city colleges for my EKG and Phlebotomy training.

Could you elaborate? How were the clinicals? Is it possible that the school is just getting adjusted to the new program or was it truly horrible? I haven't decided if I am going to go here or not but was considering it (still) for september. I have had nothing but positive interaction with the admissions people. I have only had dealings with the Oak Brook location.

Most importantly, do you feel you will pass the NCLEX-PN and be able to perform as an LPN?

My experience was at the downtown location. I can't speak for the others. Several people students were in the office while I was there. I do recall a fee of $25.00 if the test (HESI I believe) is not passed. I think they allow you several opportunities but each retake required the fee.

So discouraged to hear this... My experience was at oakbrook for a consultation about the lpn program. they seemed informative to me. Although i do remember calling downtwn first and the girl seem like she was napping while anwering my questions. She was soo zoned out.

I am glad to hear this information cuz I was thinking of doing my program at dowtwn since I am near midway.

Even though at downtwn as been chaos, do u think u stand a chance to pass the test and get a job? Sorry to hear that you guys went through this...
