Northwestern Memorial Hospital Interview Process

U.S.A. Illinois

Hello! I have been a nurse for a year now and am looking to score a position a Northwestern Memorial Hospital. I have had the phone interview with HR, the personal interview with the managers on the unit I applied for, and have shadowed a nurse on the unit for 4 hours. I waited two weeks to hear from them after the shadowing. When they finally called, they said they were pursuing other applicants, but would like me to shadow on another unit (heart failure unit). Although, I am very glad I have another chance, I am not sure what went wrong on the first unit. I was wondering if any current or former employees know what they are looking for during the shadowing round of the interview process. I suspect this was the troublesome phase because they said I was a good fit for Northwestern, just not that particular floor. I would really appreciate any advice because I called the managers to ask for some feedback so that I can correct my mistakes, but I did not receive a response from them.

Also, this process has taken over a month. Is that typical for this facility?

Congrats!! :) Glad everything worked out for you, best wishes for you and your new loved one!

Can anyone give any insight on what the recruiters ask you during the phone interview?

Does anyone know if Northwestern accepts ADNs who are currently pursuing their BSNs with approximately 8 months to go?

As far as I can tell, your application gets an automatic "We regret...blah blah blah" when you fill out the online questionnaire at the of the application. If you click 'No' when it asks if you have a BSN your application never gets to anyone that matters.

I will be graduating come December. I'm curious how much the starting pay for a new grad is at NMH? Thanks!

It depends on your unit and if you're day/night shift.

$25 for new grads on med/surg..$4 night differential.. The orientation length seems scary! I was told you only get 2 weeks (even as a new grad...wow!)

Not sure what the orientation/pay is for other units or if it is the same hospital wide though. Best of luck! :)

Congrats that you were able to get the job on the HF/pulmonary unit, I have a department interview coming up for the HF/pulmonary unit. Wondering if you have any advice on how I should prepare. Did you ask you critical care questions, gave you a questionnaire? I will be interviewing with 3 managers as stated by HR.

Really hope It works out for me, really interested in this floor.

Hi everyone! I know this thread hasn't been terribly active recently, but I had a question about the interview process and would love some feedback. I am a new grad and applied for a position and had my phone interview with HR right before the holidays. A few days before Christmas, my application status transitioned to "interview". Unfortunately, I didn't receive an email or phone call from HR or a manager with any details about a time or date or even a unit selection, and I haven't been able to reach anyone in HR, but did leave a message asking for details. Today I recived a voicemail from a member of HR stating that she could clarify any questions I have about my interview scheduled for today. This was the first I had heard of it though and this individual didn't return my phone call after calling her back.

Has this ever happened to anyone before? I would love to interview at this hospital and I would hate to think that I might have missed the opportunity because someone dropped the ball before they went on Christmas holiday. I checked my email, junk email, missed call list and voicemail, but never received any contact from anyone at NMH after my initial phone screen. Are they likely to hold this against me if I was scheduled for an interview today but had never been given that Information?
