Northwestern Institute - $16.000 without books and all other expenses (price from jun)

    5 Prereq's - each $650.

I went there few months ago to make inquiry about program, and my first impression was not so nice. They had some unfriendly attitude and at that moment I knew that I'll not go there.

Since I live in CHGO, another school was in game - PCCTI, but I had great experience in CMK - Westmont campus and I'll go there for LPN. Next class begins 01/08/2011 in Westmont campus (Glendale Heights 03/12/2011).

Some LPN's from nursing home where I work, told me that PCCTI (they went to Oak Brook Campus) has terrible staff but the program is good and all people from their class passed the NCLEX-PN.

that is good, well today I went to the gendale heights campus(CMK)and they where happy to answer all my question and explained everything pretty clear; when I did call then they where pretty negligence towards me, but thats a given with ppl calling in looking for info at schools. But when I asked them it went very smoothly, and from what I hear everyone passed and graduated and there NCLEX-PN

I called PCCTI Oak Brook capmus few days ago. They were so rude and negligent towards me and after that call I've decided that I'll definitly go to CMK

Everyone should read the thread about PCCTI. Almost anyone gave positive opinion

Cmk personnels are not negligent of people. I know that for sure, because i personally had an experience calling them and inquiring. I know that we might think they are negligent on the phone, but the reason is that they want you to come to their office for them to inquire you clearly of the things you wanted to know. Calling them is ok but dont ask too many questions on the phone because they have a lot of work to do. like say entertaining another person like you which is infront of them. so it is best that we have to go to their office personally and they will alot a great amount of time for us

I was referring to PCCTI, not CMK.

CMK is great. I know them personally 'cause I went there for CNA class.

Before you decide on any private or vocational LPN program, check if it is NLNAC accredited. If it is not, some employers will not hire you, and if you plan to obtain your RN degree, most colleges won't recognize your LPN program because it must be NLNAC accredited. Just because it's accredited by the IDFPR or IL board if education, doesn't mean colleges will accept. Just a heads up. Best of luck.
    LAbaby and sunshyne1 like this.

CMK Healthcare is charging $15,000 for the entire program which includes books. They were planning to offer the Pharmacology course at the end of the program and now decided to place it as a pre requisite. I found out that LPN programs are not required to offer pharmacology. CMK wants to make sure that their students are well verse in pharmacology so that they can be competetive in the market.

They recently dropped their prices for their pre reqs. They are licensed under ISBE to provide LPN training. Currently not accepting financial aid due to being a new program.

Other schools are charging way too much... the most important thing is you come out with the right education and proper instruction

I am planning to join their classes this january

Hi Chris NS, I responded before about NLNAC accreditation. Although it is voluntary for colleges to enroll with the National League of Nursing Accreditation Council, many colleges or employers will not accept or hire you if you come from a school not accredited by the NLNAC. So your courses may or may not transfer to other colleges or universities besides St. Xavier. And just fyi, yiu have to take 12 credit hour courses with St. Xavier, and there is a long waiting list to get into their program, 2013 - 2014, CMK Health Care is not accredited by the NLNAC. It sucks, but it is what it is.
