JJC 2013 Spring Nursing Applicants ?

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

Hello - this is my very first time posting a new topic, hopefully I'm doing this correctly.

Just wanted to see if there are any ladies/gentlemen out there applying into the nursing program for the Spring 2013 semester. We apply the first two weeks of August - and then does anyone know how long until we take the TEAS test? I keep getting told different things, it's confusing.

Speaking of.....Hopefully I'm accepted and can then maybe make some friends. I'm so sick and tired of the people who tell you one thing that's untrue, all to mess with your head and make you second guess anything you've ever known about this nursing program. I know this is a competitive field and all, but sheesh already, the lies and manipulation have been unreal!

Also, I have to say, I admire anyone who has (especially while working FT w/a family) gone to school to take these pre-reqs while not even knowing if you will get in. The stress I have experienced, the stress and torture I have put my family through while leaving 3-4 nights a week after work, to go to school, while not even knowing if I'll be accepted, has been beyond brutal. I wish we could write an essay on all that we've sacrificed in hopes that would make some of the admissions counselors feel guilty enough to just put an approved stamp on our applications :)

Good luck to you all!

Thanks Tortiz, I couldnt take it anymore and I emailed Mary and asked nicely where I am in line to get into the evening program... I am actually #1 in line.. Sooooo... I feel relieved that I really did nothing wrong to prevent me from gettting in. Here is to keeping my fingers crossed, but also to just being proud that I did my best and it didn't go un noticed.. Pretty pathetic when my 14 and 11 year old daughters were comforting me through my tears that night.. Send good vibes my way and hopefully we will meet soon :)

i am sure there will be a spot open from now til the start of nxt semester! many times students apply to different schools and get accepted into both and opt for their first choice which might not be jjc if they get accepted into a 4 yr university! good luck!

Katie I will most def say a few prayers for you because you will be in the nights program with me and it would be great having such an awesome person in my group. If it is meant to be it will and we can only pray for you now. Last semester that is how a few got in. Fingers crossed, prayers and if not you have many classes to take. Good luck

I'm in the first semester now in the evening program, and 2 people in my clinical group were late admits into the program (they were notified just 1 week before the semester started), so keep your chin up, and you may very well be starting this spring.

matka can u tell me about the times of the nursing program? I do not have my cna but just curious thanks

I also do not have my CNA, so my schedule is like this:

Monday

4:00 - 6:00pm - Theory

6:00 - 9:00pm - Nursing 140 (CNA class). This has already ended. It only lasted 6 weeks.

Tuesday

OFF

Wednesday

4:00 - 10:00pm - Clinical

Thursday

4:30 - 6:30pm - Nursing 140 (CNA class). Already ended.

6:30 - 8:30pm - Clinical Topics (We have now moved this class to go from 4:30 - 6:30pm)

Friday

4:00 - 6:00pm - Theory

Thank you Matka for posting evening times, I'm sure that really helps the incoming night students. Does anyone know though what a daytime schedule may look like? As always, rumors fly and go in so many different directions - I've heard you have to be at your clinical site at 6am. I'm sure this could pose childcare issues for people including myself, which needs to be figured out in the next month or two. Does anyone know if 6am clinical times is legit or is this a rumor like all the other stuff I've heard?

Thanks so much for posting this. Just one more ? Can u apply to get hour CNA license after that class is over ?

My understanding is that we can sit for the CNA exam, but not until the semester is over. CNA licensure requires a certain number of clinical hours, and we won't complete all the clinical hours until the semester is over (they count our regular clinical hours for the nursing program as the clinical hours for the CNA requirement).

Hope that helps!

Yes, thank you so much for all the information!!!

It really depends on who you have for clinical, but 6:30 am is usually the time you have to be there. Definitely before 7 am for the day program. And you can sit for the CNA class once semester 1 is over and your grade has posted to your official transcript.

That would be excellent :) I see a study/supprt group in my hopeful future hehe!

I meant you can sit for the CNA exam, not CNA class! :)
