    I just spoke with the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation with questions regarding licensure by endorsement, and thought I would post the info here in case it is of use to others.

    (I spent 1.5 hours redialing to get past the busy tone, and then spent 20 minutes on hold. But the woman who answered was friendly and helpful.)

    I requested the fingerprint card, and she took down my address and said these requests are processed pretty quickly.

    Typical waiting periods, once all the paperwork has arrived in their office:

    4-6 weeks for a temporary permit
    8-10 weeks for a permanent license
    (She said that if there are any aspects of the application requiring further investigation it will add at least three weeks to the process.)

    As of today (6/20) the area that handles the RN licenses is working on files from June 2nd. So they are 18 days behind.

    I am in California, and I mentioned to her that the BRN here sends the form directly to Illinois instead of returning it to me, and she said that is not a problem.

    good info.....i'm applying for endorsement from minnesota...why would someone get a temp license vs. permanent?

    A temporary permit allows you to work until you receive your permanent license.

    Illinois is very backed up this time of year. As long as you don't have a license and are not in a disciplinary process they put you on the bottom of the pile.

    just checking to see if you're a US citizen do they still need a local license from phils when endorsing to IL?

    Hi there,
    I didnt take the local board in my home country (philippines) But im a greencard holder..
    I want to ask if i can take the exam in california and endorse my licensed here in ILLINOIS???

    anyone who has same experience?
    any reply would be realy much appreciated!

    hi abby, Illinois BON requires a Philippine license because it is the origin of your nursing education. We have the same case and I applied in Florida because they didn't require an English test. if you have further questions, feel free to contact me at 773-934-4235

    I also am a foreign grad and i have my license of origin. I just passed nclex 2 mos ago in nevada and i am planning to endorse it to IL. I am really having a hard time with the steps.

    I already have my ces report with nevada board but it has already been expired. How do i apply?

    Just becasue you have a license in Nevada.......does not mean you will be able to get a license in Illinois. Illinois is one of the states with concurrent requirements on your education just like California. These are states having concerns over concurrent theory and practicum:

    alabama
    arizona
    california
    georgia
    illinois
    kansas
    louisiana
    maryland
    north dakota
    oklahoma
    vermont
    virginia
    washington

    Are there a lot of people who got denied in IL? I am waiting for ur reply bec if that is true, I will not agree with our plan to relocate from Nevada to Chicago.
    I called IL board and i spoke with 3 people there already and asked if i will encounter problems just like what happened to my friends in cali who got denied. They said as long as my documents are complete and i have my rn license from where i received my BSN degree.
