CNA classes being offered anywhere??

I was wondering if anyone knows where CNA classes or prgorams are being offered in NW Indiana or IL. It is to much money to go to a community college so if you could PLEASE HELP it would be greatly appreciated.

I remember a couple of years ago inquring at this one particular nursing home, possibly in Evanston, that trained CNAs for free in exchange for a minimum of a year work committment. Generally, it seems that the shorter a CNA training program is, the more expensive it is--- 4 week training vs. 12 week programs. Also, I understand that as long as you have the first semeser of your nursing fundamentals class completed, you can actually take the CNA exam without having to go through a CNA program.

Check with your local school system. There's an adult area education center here that offers CNA classes for free.

This place: http://www.ietc-dupageco.com/SamlandHealthCare.htm has a rather good reputation in terms of training quality. I took CNA with them because CNA is a required pre-req at the nursing school I was going to apply at. Call the main number at the top.

You may want to check out KCC in Kankakee, they have CNA courses that are about 6 weeks long and run around $600. I am starting there this fall.

The absolute cheapest way to go for your CNA is to work at a long term care facility that accepts public aid. If they do, and they have a cna education program, you will get the class for free. They can't even charge for the books. Hope this helps, and good luck - Nursing is fun!

It is extremely difficult to find a nursing home that offers CNA classes for free. They used to. However, because so many of the employees would leave after the "free" training, it wasn't very cost-effective.

My husband is an administrator of a nursing home and now homes only are clinical sites.

I'm not sure about your location, but Illinois offers free CNA classes through most adult learning centers. You can find out by calling any adult learning center location in illinois.:monkeydance: Good luck.

A community college will cost you about $600-$700. But remember, you also have to be up to date with your vaccinations and also have to take a drug test for some programs and have a physical screening. So it could add up, plus books and uniforms.

Hi! Just wondering if anybody knew where to get a cheap copy of Mosby's Textbook for Nursing Assistants 7th Edition? I'm starting class next week and I need it. Anybody have a copy they aren't using anymore that would like to sell it???:)
