City of Chicago College - Truman Nursing Program 2013 Applicants

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

Hi Everyone,

I'm starting this article for all of the City of Chicago nurse applicants for 2013. I'll first start with a little about why I'm choosing Truman vs Daley or Malclom x and I'll also add some pertinent information that I think would be useful for everyone.

So.....

From what' I've learned, after you complete all the pre-req's

Math

Bio

Chem

English

you can apply. In my case, I've finished all of these so I am continuing on to Bio 226 & 227 prior to applying to the program, which will help me out in the long run.

The application opens around 10/10/2012, and shortly after the TEAS exam registration will open to take on-campus at Truman.

I wonder how strict they are for those who accepted? Does anyone know if your TEAS score has a big impact on their decision?

How much is are the fees for your criminal background check, immunizations, and TEAS exam?

The best advice I can give is once you complete your first semester, take the CNA exam and find a job as a CNA somewhere. Even if you have to work 1 night a week, it's a foot in the door. You already have a strike against you when you graduate because your an ADN, but if they know you, and know your work ethic, you're more likely to get hired. That's what I did and I have a job waiting for me in a hospital on a sought after unit.

Where can I take the CNA exam after the first semester?

I think that is the best advice, I have seen thus far. I have seen many people do that and many who were CNAs or Collegiate Nurses and eventually get a job as an RN with their Associates and while working go to school for their BSN.. :cat:

So I'm going to be going to Daley College Nursing Program and I see they sent out the Uniform Order form, and the book list. Are these all the things that have to come out of pocket separately or is any of it incld. in the Tuition? Can't wait for July 9th! to register and be sure everyone to have your things like your health forms and such ready and turned in by July 1st!! (due date)....

Thanks so much for all the info adraorien!

Has anyone heard when Truman registration is going to take place? Daley is scheduled to have theirs on 07/09 and I've heard nothing so far about when ours is.

I've called the nurs dept a few times to ask for a registration date and they keep telling me to check my email. Very frustrating.

so how does the Lottery thing work? I was first told that registration was a first come first serve and now I heard its a lottey? Does anyone have more info on this for august 2?

Hello everyone!!! I am a new member on AllNurses.com, but I had been lurking and getting nursing student tips for a while now. Congrats to all of my fellow acceptees for the fall 2013 Nursing Program. There are a few things I would like to reply to a few posts. First, registration is aug. 6th at 9:30am sharp for Truman students. The lottery, as I was told by a recent Truman grad, you draw a number and that is the order in which you register so it doesn't matter so much if you are first in line since the first person could draw number 134 instead of 1.

I am looking forward to meeting everyone and getting the semester underway!

hi, so how did a lottery work for u?

I was number 79. I still got what I wanted. I am happy. Now time for books...)))))))))

Has anyone heard of that the Financial Aid telling students that you are unable to take out student loans if you already have students loans of $15,000 or more?

I was number 111...I did not get what I wanted, but will work with it and remain optimistic that things will be fine! :)

hi, i did not know this...

Hi everyone,

Congratulations to all of you who got in to the Program 2013!

I am planning to apply for Truman College's program this year. I have all pre requisites taken and all I need to do is take the test. My question to all of you who got a seat in Truman for this year - any advice based on your experience how to make your chances to get in higher?

I will appreciate your input!
