Calling All Fall 2012 Daley College Nursing Students

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

Hello everyone it seems like Truman has many helpful threads and Daley has none. I thought I would create this one so everyone who received acceptance for Fall 2012 can communicate with one another. Post here anything that you've heard in regards to Daley's Nursing Program. For example I'm wondering where clinicals will be, if you know plz share. BTW Congratulations to everyone!!!

Vann815, Yes we have to attend both

does anyone know what days of the week is the daley's nursing day schedule going to be, and at what time 8am or 9am?

Specializes in Med/Surg.

Thanks EmanEMT!

I don't know why I haven't received the email. I would hate to miss out on any important events. Anyway, I just talked to Andrea and she said we do have to attend both orientation because Malcom X is where all the nursing students will be going and because they have a bigger auditorium, etc.

An email was never sent specifying if we were day or evening students, but today during the uniform fitting Ms. Fitzsimmons walked around and asked everyone if they were attending day or evening classes. I was told that this was how you lock in your preference. Also to my knowledge day classes are Mon and Wed 8 to 2.

Did everyone receive the booklist? It was sent out already. If so, has anyone bought any of the books?

welcome to daley everyone. Im a 2nd year student and am excited to start next week. some helpful tips....study study study! its not just memorize and repeat anymore like in most of your pre-reqs, you really have to critically think...ALWAYS think safety! Remember your ABC's! (airway, breathing, circulation) DONT spent endless hours trying to memorize every little detail in the books, you'll drive yourself crazay! DO make sure to get the readings done on time, DONT wait till that weekend when you wanna partay or have plans . doing a little review each day will help you to remember more things. Also, sometimes the professors pull questions from prepU so you should definetely review those. Do ATI every once in a while, you might not be covering that material yet but its nice to get familiar with it. regarding clinicals, everyone has a different experience so dont get discouraged if other ppl are doing more things at their site. even if you dont spend any time with your RN just chat it up with the CNAs and PCTs, they often are full of great advice and can show you the ropes. now things can be disorganized at the administrative level at daley:banghead:, BUT from what I hear things are disorganized at other places too, you just gotta take the good with the bad. :D
