Aurora University IL Applicants Fall 2013!!!

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

Hi guys! Just looking to see who all has applied for AU's 2013 Fall bsn program. I believe that the acceptance letters are going out sometime in March. Does anyone know any information about the average of students that were accepted last year? I received my TEAS score and am dying to know!

Its called Aurora University 2013 Nursing Students. I have the same dilemma. I live 45 minutes away in streamwood and i still have to take cell biology and patho. I want to join the cross country team so im thinking getting patho out of the way would be a good idea maybe

I have to take bio and a math course as well, thinking about pathophys as well but I don't know yet..?

What math course is it? Im not sure i would recommend all three during the summer but i don't know exactly how difficult patho is or whether you have photographic memory. I am worried about the possibility of having to take cell bio and patho during the summer. still contemplating.

For anyone taking or who has taken patho, would it be difficult for me to take with cell bio this summer? or even in the fall semester with the other nursing course? CA_BSNhopeful i know you said patho wasn't that hard. I took patho online with UCLA-extensions over the summer 2 years ago and i felt it was difficult considering i was also taking developmental psych as well that summer. Unfortunately those credits didn't transfer over to Aurora but at least it won't be completely new to me when i do take it again. btw gylly join our facebook group.

Cell bio will be fine. The TEAS test was all cell bio so if you passed that you will be fine. Patho is physiology gone wrong, which shouldn't be too bad.

Even for the summer along with patho? It is one thing if it is not too bad by itself and during a regular 4 month semester but over a shortened semester along-side patho makes me worried. However if you feel it shouldn't be too much to handle then i may take your word for it. I REALLY want to join the cross-country team. I do marathons, triathlons, tough mudders etc.. on my free time so im hoping i can get a scholarship out of being on the school team.

Well I spoke with someone from the nursing school and she highly recommended that patho was completed prior to the program itself. So I went off her recommendation I know it will be hard but I'd rather work my butt off over the summer bc when the program begins I'm sure they'll be tons to do! I'm taking biology of cells and patho for the first summer session Bio on M& W 9-12:45 with lab on T & R 9-11:45 and patho T & R 6:00pm-9:45pm. Then for the second session im taking mth 1100 (college algebra) T & R 5:30-8:15.

I don't think Bio of cells will be too difficult bc it's stuff we've already learned just a bit more in depth. And as for patho it should be interesting, if you decide to take any of these classes maybe well meet each other! Anyways good luck, I hope this kinda helped :)

well, patho isn't that hard...as long as you are keeping up with your physiology. Basically the first 4 weeks are kind of tough just because a lot of it is review and examining the ways that the body reacts to an altered state of health. There is also a lot of new terms to learn, but they will be easy to remember because of the context and frequency of use. After that, then it is pretty easy to build on that knowledge base. For me, patho is really helping make more sense of normal physiology. Right now we're doing cardio stuff and I find that pretty challenging but youtube is always helpful-it's what I plan on doing to help review anything I'm not clear on

I highly recommend taking patho the semester prior, because I started reading a fundamentals of nursing textbook (not sure if it's the one we will use but it's a well known book by Taylor et. al) and it already bombards you with lots of patho terms that I just learned this semester so yea, I'm glad I'm taking it now.

Wow so you too are going to be taking both cell bio and patho. I will take the advice of the person you talked to and get patho out of the way. i hope i don't burn out halfway through. hopefully it isn't much different then the patho i took at UCLA. what teachers do you have?

Okay i will take your advice. what teachers did you have for patho and cell bio? are they any good?

also... did anyone also schedule their advisement appointments? i have mine with ********. Im not sure exactly what this appointment is about.

The only teacher I know that's teaching patho over the summer is one I have right now for a health professions seminar class. (******) if you're looking at the summer sched)He can be rigorous with A&P (so I heard) but I'm not sure how he is in patho since it's really not about memorization. I can't speak for cell bio since I took the equivalent of that at waubonsee.

1st time students have to have an advising appointment in order to register and also to go over your plan to make sure you're taking all the classes you need. The advisor will also help you navigate the WebAdvisor system that you will use for the rest of your time at AU. Once you're matriculated, as they call it, you can register for classes by yourself for the next semester
