I was just wondering are there any prairie state hopefuls for 2012 out there?

camille said it's around 60or 70 dollars for top and bottom

hey dc i had 132, mainly because of the 20 indistrict points because i didn't get in last year so they added additional 10 to make it 20 indistrict points. total was 137 but hesi had taken 5 away so 132 is what i got accepted in with.

How did you get 20 in district? I got 10 in district! In the hand book starting 2013 they are only giving 5 points for indistrict

I didn't get in last year either and I only still got 10! That's crazy cause nicole the nursing advisor said it was only ten in district! Kudos to you for getting those extra 10

omg, 5???? thats crazy they are changing a lot and telling everyone that they have to place in math 90, that wasn't a requirement before. I got 10 indistrict points just like u, but then I didn't get in last year, so i reapplied this year and got 10 more indistrict points. i feel like I didn't really earn those 20 points at all, I worked my butt off in my science classes but I had extra math classes like 085 and 095 and a&p 2 and micro all at the same time while trying to take the hesi and i missed by 1 point, i forgot what my points were when I was doing this i think it was like..........112, and my esi took 5 points away so I was at like 107 and they didn't accept me. when I was striving for those A's in anatomy phys and micro, it didn't matter at the time because it was taken past the feb 1 due date, i had eng 101 102 done, psych 101 and 102 done, a&p 1 done, cellular and molecular biology done and basic bio100 level done. bio100 was a B Cellular and molecular was an A, psych 101 B psyc 102 A eng 101 B eng 102 A a&p 1 A. so I had A's and B's for classes and indistrict points but that wasn't enough, a&p 2 adn micro are very important soo. also I didn't have communication 101 done either.

REALLLLLY?? idk what happened maybe it was a mistake to do that because I'm nobody special.lol I started to think that's what they do to everybody that stays and wait another year, you should get another 10 points if you waited another year and you're still in district. I really feel like the new ppl that go to the orientation are unfairly matched with the people who didn't get in the previous year, they have more points and probably redid the hesi so they have a much better advantage, that's what I thought last year, and I still think the same way this year. I guess it's just so many applicants that they just..........do whatever to accept people in, I just wish I knew how they weed people out in the first semester.lol Honestly I don't think they just accept a bunch of incompetent people, I guess I'll see when I get there.

I kept my hesi from last year. I got 10 additional points for that. I don't think prairie weed them out! It's all about surviving the nursing curriculum! Not everybody going to make it! You have to maintain an 80% throughout the program anything less then that its failing as previously stated by JASEL!

Math 90 was a requirement for last year as well as 2010. You had good grades

So being a LPN did help huh?

Ya. Especially already being familiar with a lot of the medications and ESPECIALLY feeling comfortable at clinicals. I remember while I was getting my LPN I used to dread going to clinicals. Plus you're more familiar with the test taking format and how to read the questions. Like how you can have 4 correct answers to a question but if you see the key words "Most Important" or "What should the nurse do first" or "Priority" you have a better idea of what to look for. And there will be a lot of stuff you already know because you've done it yourself (although occasionally it trips you up because you might have been doing something or learned something one way at work and they want you to do it differently in the program).

thanks. how much were the uniforms at oreintation?

I don't remember the price. I remember planning on buying 2 sets of scrubs, but after seeing the price I said screw that and stuck with one set.

How was the hesi and did a lot of people make it just curious my friend took hers at 9a and she said she was amazed at how many people wasn't there!

Well today when we took the Hesi it was section 1 and section 3 (I took mine at 9a too). I'm not sure exactly how many people made it out of both sections but I definitely noticed at least 4 or 5 people in my section who were not there today. I'm honestly not that great at remembering the people who don't make it through the program unless they stood out in some particular way to me. I didn't get too attached to anyone outside of my clinical groups this year because there's a good chance that new buddy you made in the first couple of weeks isn't going to make it the first year. The Hesi itself wasn't hard.

Well you can be below an 80% and still be in the program. I was actually only getting a 79.12% going into the midterm this semester but the thought of failing and having to come back and do everything again freaked me out so bad I managed to pull my grade up to an 85.1% going into the final. If you drop below a 76% though they'll kick you out.

And ya the program is what weeds people out, not necessarily the entrance requirements. Like I said they definitely accept ALOT more people than they know will pass. There are less than half of the original 95 we started out with. I know that much.

So you can be at 79% and make it or 79.5%

Yep if it's 79.5% (they round up half points and half percentages). I know someone who just passed 2nd semester with a 79.7%/350.5 pts.

Thanks! Yea, 95 shouldn't be TOO bad lol
