Accepted into CCC Nursing Program: Truman College

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

Hi all! I've started this thread for those of us who have gotten the good news and have been accepted to start the nursing program at Truman College in Fall 2012!

If you are still waiting to hear, I would suggest visiting the other thread I started for some helpful information, tips, and support!

Here's what I know so far:

  • There WILL be clinicals in the first semester (6 hours)
  • The classes will be scheduled via a lottery system
  • We should be receiving a letter from Dr. Gurney in the near future that details what our next steps should be!

Please add to this thread if you have any more information or just want to say hi!

I'm looking forward to getting to know you guys and having classes together shortly!

Has anyone heard from school regarding the book list or orientation date?

Did anyone ever get a MSG from the school? Still waiting here!

Uncle!!! I have come to terms with the fact that we won't get the book list any time soon : (

i love this school more already

If anyone is looking to switch their evening class time with my morning please send me a message on here. Thank you

Hi Aidansmom, as far as I know nothing new has been sent out regarding orientation, book list, schedules, etc. What I've been getting in my inbox are emails regarding the Health Examinations about typos and missing information that was left out from their part. Speaking of that looks like I will be visiting my doctor's office for the 5th time regarding "missing or incorrect" titers vaccinations because they sent us the wrong form.

Hope that helps with your concerns regarding updated emails about the program.

Thanks so much! Did the acceptance email give the dates of orientation or just say which cohort you're in? I hope they forward me my email soon since I don't even know which schedule I have! Do you remember when that acceptance email was sent?

How frustrating that you have to go back to the doctor for a 5th time!!!

Congrats to all 2012 Truman nursing students...... Looking forward to a fun year....

Hey all,

I went to drop off my health information and found out that Vanisha is on vacation until July 8, so we won't be hearing anything administrative until after then (such as when the mandatory orientation is!).

I also stopped by the bookstore - they have some of our books in, but not all. The rest of the books will be coming from Vanisha, so again I guess nothing for a couple of weeks.

She's also in charge of switching day/evening cohorts, so I don't anticipate we'll hear anything about that.

Basically I don't think we'll get any new information until mid-July. Not the best news, but I figured I'd let you all know so you're not worried that you're missing emails or something.

Hi everyone attending Truman. Does anybody knows how is with the parking in this school? I will be a new student at this school and when I went there yesterday to the nursing office I had to park on 4th floor in the garage. I know that not everyone takes classes during summer, so I wonder how to find a parking space in the fall when a few thousands of students will be going to school. I consider also taking a train....What do you think? Thanks for any response and enjoy your summer.

usually there is enough parking for all the students. Sometimes you have to park on the last floor, but you always find parking. At least is my experience :) Hope this helps

If you take 12 or more credits in one term you get a U-Pass which allows you to take CTA for free as long as the semester is running. I think if you are Nursing student you will either be at school for early AM classes or evening classes. I think the busiest time for the parking garage is late morning or early afternoon so you should be OK either way.
